I've got one of these, and it is fantastic. I carry it to work and boil water with a tall kettle about the same height and size. Both get done about the same time, and I pour over the coffee for a fantastic cup anywhere. The auto-off makes me wonder why all electric grinders don't do that? Edited to add: And I love the USB C connector - I only have type C connectors on all my equipment now - I refuse to buy something with the old USB connector and try to figure out which side is UP. The C connector is a new technology, not 10 years old. Try grinding 15g of coffee beans by hand at your office desk and not feel stupid. And get ready for the smell of coffee to bring folks over, looking for the coffee machine that's down the hall.

Brilliant review Josh. Your KZbin reviews excellent. I've been researching portable travel grinders for some time and have now just ordered this from AB online.

Great detailed explanation. I have the Barriseur coffee alarm clock and love it, and it’s quality. So just bought this on your review. I like the idea that the time to grind doesn’t matter if you start grinding first and do your setup.

I really like mine - i only brew single cup for v60 and it's ideal. However . . . don't put high quality light roasts in it. It really struggles with grinding the light roasts and jams the system. Mine has jammed multiple times and it locks up, meaning i can't open the hopper without force, which has damaged the plastic casing. I emailed JoyReslove and they told me that it can't handle light roasts because of the limitations of the small motor, which I wish they would specify in the description. All that being said, i use it almost daily (when i have a medium or dark roast) and it's ideal for me.

I wouldn’t call it “slightly slower” than a hand grinder. I routinely grind 20g at Moka-fine with my J-MAX, which is 35 revolutions of the crank. Yes, I’ve counted. Depending on how hard I’m willing to work, this can take 20-40 seconds. Granted, the grind time isn’t, on its own, bad. As a prior commenter has said, you have time waiting for water to heat. But I don’t think I want to listen to it grind on for 2 straight minutes first thing in the morning. I guess I could wrap it in a towel or something… I guess the real question is: how good are the actual grinds compared to my J-MAX?

J-Max is superior without question.

If you can compromise the espresso grind size, in my humble opinion, Timemore Grinder Go offers faster grinding time and better user experience. I use Grinder go for pour overs and it is doing pretty consistent grind size.

Thanks for sharing! I haven't used the Go yet, but yes - it does grind faster too I've heard 👌 would be great to compare these two 🔥

An observation AB won't thank me for but perhaps others might... You're reviewing the JoyResolve Groove Compact Portable Grinder. Fair enough. Very nice, fair, practical review; thanks 👍. But just so you all know, this exact grinder is available at a fraction of the price unbranded as well. I won't insult AB here by pasting in links but a quick search of your favourite online shopping site(s) will likely turn up what you're looking for. Frankly, at this 'fraction of the cost', it's a much nicer proposition. Peace out.

🫶 all good Ben, no hate from us mate. Though, just a quick note from us: As a small Australian-owned business, we pride ourselves on excellent customer service, fast and affordable shipping, and providing end-to-end help with all our products. While our prices might sometimes be higher, we maintain competitive pricing and add value in ways that larger global sites may not. We understand that there are unbranded versions available at a lower cost, and that's a valid point. However, we believe in supporting our customers with a level of service and reliability that makes a difference. Kindly, Josh

would love to see a microscopic comparison of espresso ground result particle uniformity for this grinder compared with a standard 220 v conical grinder and even that of a flat burr pricy esoteric grinder. also compare shots. yes i know the esoteric's are faster and more convenient but very curious. the shot you pulled in this video looked just fine. might also pull some comparison shots on a reasonable 220v espresso machine.

Is the rechargeable battery replaceable??
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing Жыл бұрын
No, not that Im aware of. What would be replaceable - rather than getting in to replace the battery - is the top part - as a spare part. This would be too easy then to continue on using the grinder.

I'm pretty sure the 110g capacity for the grounds bin is not correct :) Also the espresso seemed a bit thin, how was it compared to other traditional manual grinders? I really like the idea of having an electric grinder for traveling, but it's 8 times slower than my K6 and the motor sounds like it's about to die pretty soon. Also if the battery dies, you're screwed, no coffee for you unless you wait for it to recharge I guess. Not for me :)

Watching that machine labor for 1:58 to grind 30 grams of coffee was just ridiculous. I wouldn't expect it to last more than a couple of weeks--let alone, years--before it conks out.

Lol... ngl, that's a bit too slow for my liking. 1 minute is already considered long for me but 4 minutes...listening to that grinding sound which isn't quiet would be torture to my ear. It should be faster to be competitive with any grinders out there today.

Please let me know what made you think it is paid promotion 🫶 and I guess explain what is achieved by asking that? As @ajwn6451 has mentioned - we're a retailer of this product - though, if you feel I might be biased towards this product - for use of selling it, in the review I'm quite specific about the cons to this product, and am not sure what more can be said - without it just becoming hypercritical with senseless comparisons.

Why would you buy this that takes so much more time than a manual grinder? It's faster, more reliable and you can use it at any time? This thing is way too slow to be worth it.
