Thanks buddy! In my 06 Jetta the radio presets are not lost. Good info.

Just did this, thanks this video helped. Was a lot easier than I expected, except for that one idler with the three screws was a bit of a pain. Thanks for posting.

Did you have a lift?
@ericmichel38575 ай бұрын
@@LostLeftyLimb No, just a good floor jack and large jack stands. Oh and a comfortable creepy crawler, honestly for most jobs a lift is not as helpful as you might think. As mentioned in the video, some of the torx bolts are in tight spots, a good set of wrenches, bits and pry bar (to move the motor), is all that is needed.

Just changed the alternator on my 2009 Rabbit. Didn’t use a lift and I did disconnect the battery (charged it during the work). Be sure to replace any damaged or dinged up pulleys. I had 2 that I replaced. Replaced the two belts. When staging the alternator for install, prop it on a box under the car, burnish the power wire fitting so it’s clean and shiny, connect the power wire and connector. From ABOVE, reach down and pull the alternator up into position. It’s a tight fit against the fan blades and shroud and this allows better viewing of what (if anything) the alternator is hitting on the way into position. Get it into place and attach to the bracket with the two alternator bolts. Reinstall all of the pulleys and tensioners in reverse order from disassembly. LABEL EVERYTHING you remove and take pics to make RW installation easier.

Nice video, about to do this after my lunch break and they were saying it’s tough to pull out of the top. I got news for them! Thanks!

I'm about to do this job on my car in the next few days. Do you have any insight on the "pulling it out from the headlight housing" point of view? Im willing to do anything to get my car back on the road bc I need it to commute to work, but apparently that's easier.

you don't need a 10 mm triple square bit?

How do you get that little black “rubber” nipple piece covering the ground on back of the alternator?

how did you take the serpentine belt off?
@RaZcal911Ай бұрын
You didn't really show any removal, just described how fast you did it. If you are doing a help video, showing proceedure would be a great help about decribing the parts involved.

Look at your car and look at the parts he took off. It's quite easy, but he has a lift. Little harder from the ground. If you think this is the worst, then follow the other video and wrestle the engine and alternator.
