In this video you will see the diagnosis and repair of the intelligent charge alternator of Chevrolet Sonic 2019, also applies: Cruze, Trax and others, Ecotec 1.8-liter engine.
The problem that occurs is that there is a charging voltage within the ranges, it is reported that it has 3 damaged batteries and humidity is observed on the outside, it will be diagnosed because the alternator supplies a higher current than normal which leads to the battery is damaged by a very high current from the alternator.
In previous works, the regulator was replaced, and a bearing because the alternator does not charge, before and after measurements are shown. It shows that the battery indicator does not light up, although it does not charge.
The alternator charge current is measured with a scanner, ammeter, and the battery charge current.
The disassembly procedure of the car alternator is shown, as well as the disassembly and assembly of the alternator, with details of how to remove and install the clutch pulley or free pulley of the alternator shaft.
A first measurement is made to the alternator rotor with a multimeter, resistance and contact to the hub.
The parts of the alternator rotor are presented, it is explained when a coil or its wires are short-circuited or crossed.
The types of Growler or inductometer and its operation are explained. The methodology for the test is presented, through the principle of the transformer and the transformation ratio. A magnetic field is induced on the used rotor and a new rotor to have a comparison. It will be explained that it is a coil or winding crossed or shorted within the same winding.
A comparative induction test between rotors is carried out, observing that there are differences and it can begin to conclude that the rotor is crossed in its coil. A test of the alternator rotor current is carried out in order to confirm the failure and affirm through these measurements that the rotor has a damage that generates the failure. Empirical test "spark in alternator slip rings" is carried out, which is not conclusive and it is only presented as evidence but cannot be used as conclusive proof.
Verification tests: battery charging current measurement, car consumption current measurement.
Example of the repair of the alternator with a similar fault and operation of the Midtronics Exp-1000 HD equipment that is used to perform tests on the charging system and the battery, showing the results: damage to the alternator rotor, damage to the battery that has very few hours of use.

Supongo que siempre se debe checar la continuidad en el colector y que no tengan continuidad con la carcaza del alternador , la subida de corriente en el estator que revienta la bateria la batería, está Dada por cortos circuitos o pocos de corrientes en el rotor, debido al temblequeo de las espiras sueltas al girar y la pérdida del barniz del enrollado, esto también puede ocurrir por roce del rotor en el estator o por el colector en corto .

Maestro esa fuga en las espiras lo puede ver con un megger con 500v DC de inyección por un minuto allí ve la caída de la resistencia del aislamiento entre las espiras es solo sugerencia maestro
