Lived my entire life in this area. It might be beautiful to look at the hills and trees, but it is an absolute cesspit, and there is absolutely NOTHING to do. Only slightly better than Johnstown.

@ 7:15 The building with the yellow roof is The Meadows, which has served frozen custard since the early 1950s, I think. Probably the best soft serve ice cream you can get anywhere.

I agree! I remember going here growing up and playing mini golf and getting a ice cream! I don't know what they put in it, but I agree, it's the best!

@@ontheroadagain1 It's not so much the ingredients, but the actual machine they use, believe it or not. There are only three of those particular machines in operation in the entire U.S.

@@mournblade1066 I didn't know it was the machines! There are 2 other Meadows I know of. One is in Carlisle PA and the other is in Hagerstown MD.

@@ontheroadagain1 There is also one outside Huntingdon, PA, on Route 22. The one in Duncansville/Hollidaysburg is the only one with the "original" machine. The other Meadows locations do NOT have the machine that the one in Duncasville/Hollidaysburg has.

I was really hoping you would have took the north I-99 on ramp, then on to 17th Steet exit. At the top of that exit ramp you would come around to see a spectacular panoramic view of Altoona and the surrounding mountains. You could have then followed 17th Street right to another panoramic view of the city skyline!

I didn't even think of that, it would have been a great drive. I was at the shopping center a few times too

No problem! I grew up there and moved when I was a teenager. There are areas of Altoona that are way nicer than other areas. But I guess that goes for a lot of cities
