After running exclusively in Altras since 2017 and inserting my own heel cushion to give it a drop, they finally make a non-zero drop trail shoe. Too late, I've loving the Topo Mtn Racer! Might try these eventually, but I'm loving my Topos now. Great review Chad, very thorough!

The Experience Wild was just okay for me but I am really enjoying the Topo MTN Racer 3. I also just ran in the Altra Olympics 6 and I'm pleased with the comfort of that shoe, which surprised me after my experience in the Wild. As always, thanks for watching the video!

I love this shoe, i can see your point on the midsole. Im a light runner 150lb and it provides decent protection. I run some pretty technical trails and i can see where the sharp rocks would be an issue with heavier runners. Super comfortable for my foot.

I have got 3 runs in mine so far & im right with you on discription . At first on the downhills my toes were jamming in to the end i ended up doing the runners knot & that helped out quiet a bit , the shoe is made of thick material so they are warm & way over padded in the tongue & heel collar as well . If i did a race in them it would be only a 5k or 10k . I was expecting much more out of this shoe .& altra you need to step up the game with a few of the other brands in there new cushioning .

I’ve been wearing them for a little over a week and I’m enjoying them so far. I hate to say it but they remind me a lot of the Hoka Nepali ATR.

I personally prefer the Topo MTN Racer 3. The toe box felt great in both shoes but I like the slightly softer midsole in the Topo and the upper just felt like it hugged my foot better.

As an Altra faithful I am a bit let down by their lack of innovation in their Experience line. All their latest shoes to be honest. Really wanted to love the Experience but am held back by the lack of everything that it can have.

Seems that this shoe is getting rave reviews but like your experience, it just didn't stand out enough for me. Perhaps we're getting spoiled with too many pretty awesome shoes these days. Thanks for the comment and checking out the video!

Yeah you’re good bro. I’m looking for something in addition to my lone peaks. I’m torn on the wild. I need to try them on and that will be the first step.
