Good review, Brandon. For all those commenting here with your problems that haven't even put the shoe on your feet yet - just chill.

i just recently got these shoes, yes they are very comfy and super cushion but still lightweight to run in.

How does the new critical foam feel compared to the midsole in the Experience Flow?

It's actually $160!! What a deal! 😮

Yes! We reached out to Altra and they confirmed there was a “typo” on the tech sheet. The price of the Altra FWD Via is $160 rather than the stated $165 in the video. - Brandon

Why do people go for white running shoes? Honestly, I can't think of a worse colour choice.

The only issue I have is, its very noisy squeeky because of the foam and the shoe laces are very slick so it common my shoe laces keeps getting undone.

By far one of the noisiest outsoles I have come across on hard floors with a finish on them. Outside actually walking or running on I don't hear anything out if the norm.

The problem (for me) with the FWD line is the extremely low volume toe box. It's wide, but the upper was smashing the tops of my feet.
@ПламенМарков-я1г3 ай бұрын
Sounds like you need a bigger size. Some Altra models are short for their size. I have FWD Experience and use a bigger size.

The fwd via is on a higher volume last... and the 3 experience line do run short

This is on a different last from the other models you tried. This is the only last they make that somewhat fits me. Altra fits are pretty bad honestly. NB is way better. and 2E NB is wider at the front than the widest altra last. The only solution if it still does fit you is to remove the insole. You can go without it or get a thin one. That usually works. but imo you shouldn't have to remove an insole for a brand new $160 shoe to actually fit you properly.

@@TimJohnson-x1onew balance in a wide fit is narrower than Altra original fit in the same size
@TimJohnson-x1o2 ай бұрын
@@jimjamthebananaman1 It depends on the model, but that's okay. People are free to believe what they want. I've spent about $1800 on running shoes in the last 10 months and currently own 2 Altras and 5 New Balance, all current models. Altras are consistently narrower in the midfoot, which is something they're known for, and even their "original" last, which is the widest they offer and only used on the Esclante and the Via Olympus, now called the Via FWD, isn't any wider than something like the More or 840 in the toebox. It's slighter wider than the new 1080 v14, which just came out and I just got, which is actually taller, narrower and stiffer than any previous 1080, following Altras playbook I guess, but even there the midfoot is much wider on the NB. Point is, just because a shoe is shaped a certain way on the outside doesn't mean much about how much room is on the inside, where it actually matters.

Running shoes are getting so ridiculously mushy soft that when I hear that this shoe is "firm" it makes me question like... is it actually firm or it basically just what used to be considered a normal plush high cushion shoe 5 years ago before mush became the trend. The More V5 is another 4 mm drop max cushion shoe. How does this compare to that? The More V5 is very soft. Softer than the v4 even. It's not quite as mush as the 1080v13, but if it was any softer it would be too soft. it' is borderline too soft to be honest.

Right? I got the Altra Torin Plush thinking, “I want to increase my mileage without feeling beat up. These should help because I’m used to Altras.” Nope. They’re heavy, squishy, and allow my feet to move and roll in unnatural ways. They gave me shin splints, which I haven’t had since about 2008.
@TimJohnson-x1o3 ай бұрын
@@Mysterios0 To be fair the splints could be from the 0 drop. Have you worn zero drop shoes before?

As far as the foam, this seems like a step down from Ego Max. which ive heard claimed as all sorts of various things, but it seems like a TPEE type thing to me. This is just eva, everyone does "super critical" eva, it's still eva. I'd try it. I'm curtious if it feels softer or firmer than the via olympus 2. I'd bet it's softer cuz that seems to be whats trendy. imo the via olympus 2 has that midsole dialed in just right. it's not mushy or too soft, but it's not firm either.
