So I was the same. Had multiple pairs of Lone Peak 4s, but they just were not holding up for me well ( I'm a biggun ). So I went with the Olympus 5 specifically for the extra cushioning. Best shoes I've ever worn. Literally out of the box put 16 miles on them over 2 days and my feet had never felt better. These are in fact zero drop. This refers to the difference from the heel to the toe in height. There is no change height-wise. Therefore zero drop. They just are taller all along the length than other trail runners. And that makes them nice : )

Nice tips and review of the shoe. Not having a longer tongue would be tough for me too. I hope you don't roll your ankle like crow indicated. Funky color and all, I hope they work well for you. Have a great day.

Soles are too thick for me. I've got foot drop and a minimal sole is necessary for me. I like my Merrell Vapors, Xero Shoes and Vibram Five Fingers. Then again I don't do long miles. Usually under five miles, ten at the most per day. Weather is supposed to be rainy this weekend, but there's a chance that it might turn for the good. If it does, I'm hoping to get out for a quick overnight. Spot is 90 min away and a 1.5mile snowshoe hike on a snowmobile trail in the White Mountains National Forest of NH. I'll be wearing a no name winter barefoot boot and merino wool socks. Have a good weekend. Enjoyed seeing you and Brad.

I have had the Lone Peak 4’s. I loved them and put many miles on them. As time went by I switched to the Olympus. I loved the 4’s and have a couple of pairs. I put many miles on them too. When the time came to purchase new shoes I purchased the Olympus 5. I have not been real happy with them for the same reasons you pointed out. In addition, I believe the cut below that ankle is lower and allows more dirt to enter your shoe. I dislike the huge tab on the back to pull your shoe on with. I think that adds a good bit of weight too. Now here I am again faced with buying new shoes. As much as I love my old Altras I think it’s time to shop around. Thanks for the great video.

I had to smile when you didn't like the pull tab on the back. That was the redeeming part for putting on the shoes. Lol

I wear the Lone Peak 6’s. I have ankle issues and the zero drop is similar to a robust moccasin feel. I’ll probably never put enough miles on them to need another pair. Thanks for taking us along.

5 is way better than the new 6 and that ridiculous heel pad imho. My Olympus are just used for recovery days. Lone Peaks are just too low. The Timp 5 has been the perfect split for me. 29mm stack w great ground feel
