I am recovered schizophrenic who had a vision of a serpentine entity with a lion-like face coming out of a portal and entering a cloud that formed in my room and then of a beautiful looking feminine or androgenous porcelain faced entity with radiant energetic discharges that looked like wings. This all happened back in 1991. Needless to say, I just discovered Gnosticism in 2020. This stuff is real but there are many different interpretations and variations in the Gnostic cosmology depending on the particular ancient sect (i.e., Sethians, Valentinians, etcetera.) Elaine Pagels did a lot of work on interpreting the Nag Hammadi Library and published some very informative books on the subject. April DeConick is another good source on the topic.

So "The Pistis" is the Creation? That's how I interpret this. Everything comes from the Pistis ( IE: Sophia, The shadow, the abyss and then from the shadow comes yaldabaoth?) I’m no expert and I’m not a gnostic but as far as I know, the Pistis is one half or aspect of the totality of Pistis Sophia which personifies faith-wisdom. In order to understand either kabbalah or Jewish/christian forms of gnostic cosmology, one has to first study and understand Neo-Platonic metaphysics and philosophy. The most base reality is ‘The One’ or the ‘Monad’ which then generates the unknown Father, the Child and the Mother eternally. The Unknown Father is ‘Thinking’ or Noésis. The Mother is ‘Thought’ or Noéseós. The Child (Christ + Sophia) is ‘Thinking a Thought of Itself’ or Noésis Noéseós Noésis’. From there is further emanation, four luminaries each with 3 aspects or personified forms making 12 aeons. Aeons are somewhere between demigods and angelic beings and/or both. These 12 make up the Pleroma or Upper Aeons. Sophia desired to know the Monad but fell into ignorance from desire. This fall created chaos or realms of darkness. Chaos is where matter is, where spirit or light becomes trapped. Realm of Chaos is separated from higher realm of light by void or dark water. In this dark water gives rise (from fallen Sophia) to Yaldabaoth (Demiurge) who thinking himself the true creator and the real Monad makes his own Aeons as rulers or Archons to rule over chaos and keep the light trapped in matter which he created. Lower Aeons are known as The Heimarnene. That’s a lot so far and again I’m not an expert but that’s the gist I’ve gathered. Hope this helps.
