I decided to shoot a short video briefly discussing the new Alu Cab Canopy Camper setup on my Chevy Colorado Zr2 Duramax. I will be releasing more detailed videos in the future of this setup breaking down each part of the Canopy Camper. I wanted to get this video up and published so that some of you could see the new setup. This is a very casual and raw video briefly going over the new setup. I appreciate you guys checking it out.

Good luck with the build & channel. Thanks for the video. I installed an ACCC on a 2013 Tacoma Access cab Long box in March & am currently designing and building out the interior. I built and traveled in a Transit van on and off for 4 years. Designing for the ACCC is 5X more challenging than the van was.

I like the Tibetan/Nepalese prayer flags inside the camper (I am from that part of the world). I wanted to ask you two questions: 1) Do you daily drive this truck with that camper? If you do, is it awkward? 2) How much has the mpg of the truck taken hit because of that camper? It was a great video and I hope that you enjoy your time with the camper!

Hard to say how much is the wind drag and how much is the extra weight but my Tacoma with Alu Cab canopy gets about 12 mpg. However, I am running a three inch lift, 33’s, 4.88 Nitro gears, etc. My rig weighs 6900 lbs. I have to imagine his Dura max does quite a bit better

Great video, I have one on order and your setup helped in deciding on some setup options. I have a 2019 GMC Canyon all terrain, short bed. Couple questions. did your antenna interfere with placement of the Camper, if so any alternative solutions for the antenna? Also, some folks have complained about difficulty in folding/closing the roof top tent, what has been your experience. Again thanks for the video. Super setup, like the cushions idea. Looking forward to more of your videos/ideas and trips.

Thanks for checking out the video..I purchased a CravenStubby Antenna Replacement on Amazon. I am 6'2 and a bigger guy I have zero issues opening the camper. My partner is small she has some difficulty opening the camper. I have seen some people use a pole to push it open. Closing the camper wedge takes some getting used to. Its very easy but does require a bit of force to get it started while pulling down.

Alu cab community is international and has been tested pretty much everywhere in the world. Tons of companies support this camper and the biggest plus is not having to deal with a tailgate. The camper can be fully sealed as well. Too long to list here why I purchased.

Curious about your onboard electric system. How much space does the battery take up in the goose gear module and are you able to use the module for storage of other things or is solely consumed by the battery? Are the remainder of the fuses, solar controller ect mounted behind the wall panel with the switches? Also did you insulate behind the goose gear, and how do you prevent water lines from freezing? About to pull the trigger on an alu cab very soon, just trying to make sure all my details are sorted so I don't have any expensive blunders. Thanks!

Doesn’t take up very much room I have it installed in a Norco battery box along with insulation. I can stack quite a bit of gear on top of the battery box. Everything power comes in behind the main power panel. You should watch my other videos it’ll answer some of your questions I think.

New Holland Overland makes them and they weigh next to nothing. I did not have to replace the gas springs on this side but on the other side (where the EE RBQM is mounted) I used Guden gas springs, check out my other video on the EE Maxtrax mount, I discuss it there.

The Colorado manual states Do not install a slide in camper of any type. Have you had any issues with yours?
@HudsonZRoamer
@HudsonZRoamer 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not a slide in camper. It’s a canopy that sits on the rails just like a fiberglass topper….But it has a pop top tent, it does not slide in. Alu Cab makes a slide in camper called the Khaya. So no I haven’t had any issues because it’s not a slide in camper.

@@HudsonZRoamer it's all about the helping community! Appreciate the circle back with the load if you do figure it out. It's hard to say on the SP but I confirmed such in a truck thread. I remember it being around 9k just above GFC. Now the standard costs $11,995. They have upped it a couple different times. Which is understandable with the demand. However, its well in the range of this awesome alucab canopy camper. Diff needs & diff functions though of course.
