Great ROOF Conversion!! the Best ...in My Opinion!! Wish TROOPY'S were Available in CANADA!!! cheers!!

Great video, thank you. For me, the biggest advantage of a roof conversion over a rooftop tent is that I can get from my bed to the drivers seat w/out leaving the car, thus getting me out of a situation I don't want to be in.

Can you fit solar panels on top of the alucab?

I bet nothing as 1 year later and no reply to you question. The thing is awesome, but lots of things I do nto like. It is one way. conversion, if anything happens with it. you're screwed. Anyone can robe you if you leave your car. The cost is 14kAUD, too expensive for one way ticket. Regarding fuel economy, regular roof top tent can be removed and you're back to the original fuel economy but with that one no going back and all your "savings" not the savings at all as you always have increased roof.

Could you drive off with it open if needed? Or will it cause damage?

Hi. What are the sidebars / steps you have fitted? I have spoken to Ironman dealers and the factory and no luck with 78 series gear. Please help!

How much do Alu cab roof conversions cost
@spudboy13283 жыл бұрын
~ $13,500 fitted, or $11,500 if you're game to fit it yourself.

@@spudboy1328 where did you get that information from?

@@spudboy1328 Hi David. Did you actually fit it yourself and if so was there a need to weld anything? I’d feel reasonably confident doing myself also for a $2k saving!
@spudboy13283 жыл бұрын
@@timphilpott7119 No welding at all. But you need a couple of 'above and beyond' things like: some 3 jaw air shears that remove a slot of material, usually about 3mm wide; some way of lifting the old roof off when you've finished the cutting, and some way to get the AluCab up there. I bought a pair of air shears for AUD$400 becuase I will use them in the future for other jobs. And I had forks on the front of an old tractor to lift the AluCab up. It's about 110Kg that you need to lift up. The Troopy is a fair old height but you could probably do it with 4 tall people lifting on each corner. On a scale of 1-10 it is about a 4 difficulty I'd say. Once the roof is cut off, the AluCab fits right down on the hole perfectly. Wiring it is easy, just 2 wires to solder in to your house battery. HTH.

Cool set up but it looks like the top of your vehicle needs to be removed. Who installs this sweet tent?

Yeah that’s what I was thinking...how’s the integrity/stiffness of the truck after? Hard off roading flexes everything I can see some parts and pieces getting bent out of shape.

Sucks that Toyota only sells the 70 series in a handful of markets, importing one from the middle east isn't really attainable...
