This model of aluminium air battery using alkali is a forward reaction which converts the aluminium plate to aluminium oxide, which is no more conductive and looses it's battery principle. That is why I have shown in my previous videos where I use zinc coated aluminium carbon battery using zinc sulphate electrolyte, which are re-chargeable in nature and more shelf life.

If added little bit Sodium Benzoate to the electrolyte would slow down the aluminium oxidation... I can sea the the vapour of the reaction of aluminium with sodium hydroxide...
