I have by now watched most of your extrusion project videos. Great builds, thanks for sharing. Have you decided upon the slide mechanism yet? Also I have 3 questions. 1.) Can you recommend a software to model these kinds of projects? 2.) How did you go about aligning the table saw so that the blade will be perfectly straight with the fence still to come? Did you rely on the saw table being straight or is there a trick? 3.) How do you iintend to mount the zero clearance insert? Also here I would think the MDF alone is not strong enough.

Thank you for watching 😊 and my next few videos should be more capturing ( i believe & hope so ) 1. I recommend SketchUp. I tried so many other softwares but kept meeting limitations. If u see my instagram, u will see my many designs everywhere in my pages. Its all SketchUp, and rendered via Shapr3D. There is learning curves u will meet. Im 4 years into SketchUp now, that gives u an idea. 2. Off camera i made alot of precise measurements. And pushed the fence to the blade flat. It is aligned. 3. Zero clearance, i havent mounted yet. I am flooded with work and projects and this matter is now lowest on the pecking order of importance. But the method is to use the cnc machine in the shop. With acrylic or aluminum plate. We have machinist in the shop and this is not a problem for us to make at all. Once again thanks for watching.

so i wonder why you did not usethe profiles and some propper runners to build a fence that runs along on it. i did it just like that so i can set and change it freely but when locked down with just a hand it will stay right whewre you need it

i cannot visualize exactly, can you further elaborate?

@@TheAluminumCarpenter i can also send you a maycad file where it shows the basic system, at the end its a 24cm long piece of 40x80x80 that runs along the workbench using 3 pom coated gliders.the gliders have exzenter tabs so they can be clamped down with a simple motion.ontop of this sliding piece, wich is flush with the top of my workbench i usea long piece of 80x80 profile that is held uppon the sliding piece using an 80x80 angle bracet.that was the fence can be ajusted percisely to the router or tablesaw that is put into your workbench plus it can be extended over the whole space of the table or drawn back so you have a longer fence infront of your sawblade to start bigger pieces properly

I want to build something just like this but in smaller form, I have a portable table saw the DWE7485 but have no space so I need to be taking it outside thru a door so I’d like something slimmer n maybe even shorter. I’d totally buy plans if you do ever make them in different sizes

love your precision work. What were the overall dimension of this table, if I may ask?. I would have a go, to guess 600mm Wide, 1200mm Long and ~600mm Ht . Watching your videos I would like to have a crack at it. I need to do the costing components first. In Aussie land this sort of extrusion is wildly expensive, but it would provide far better precision than wood. I do fine woodcraft where my precision is done to 0.1mm or better without resorting to CNC stuff. (Most carpentry machines dont "chop it'. eg Bosch sliding compound saw is very difficult to cut a board at precise 90 degrees over the length it can cut. Maybe that's where your table corners needed persuasion to fit. My larger table saw took ages to square up blade to fence thru its travel, and get zero clearance table saw insert.) I need a precision table with T tracks like you have built with better smaller table saw and smaller router for my smaller wood pieces. Proxxon FET saw table is good but $$$.
@TheAluminumCarpenter Жыл бұрын
Yep, dimensions wise, i think you probably got it right! I am not at workshop today thus unable to confirm the numbers, but yes, approximately there. Go have a crack at that! if you need some 3D drawings, visit my website thealuminumcarpenter.sg, though i did not draw this tablesaw setup due to everyone having different table saw brands. but you will get the idea. Cost wise, I am not sure about your Aussie prices, but for my area, it is the opposite. Wood is more expensive (i believe), reasons are due to type of (imported) wood / workmanship / craftwork / transportation / environmental / etc. Nevertheless, I am obsessed with "squareness" and "precision". these 2 things kept me up at night. Whatever i make, i have to consider these first, and it slows me down when i need to process all these in my head. Build one. If you need help, contact me through the website email. Have a great day mate!

@The Aluminum Carpenter I REALLY appreciate that. Seems your attitude to perfection in our work is the same Hard wood is getting here too $$ eg 2.4m 30x12mm is Au$40 ..probaly 30% rise over last 2 years. 1 metre of 4080 is $60
@TheAluminumCarpenter Жыл бұрын
30% rise is horrible! But wood warp overtime is one of my considerations in precision builds. On the other hand, glue up and nails will render it permanent. I’d like to keep things modular and i am able to dismantle once it becomes an eyesore. I normally rebuilt things once i have a new inspiration, using the same alu parts, but made better as i improve. Its like recycling. At least i tried, not to chop down so many trees, by reusing. You really need to try what i do 😀 for the fun of it! Makers are Makers!
