just finished doing the exact same thing. hope it works. im debating whether to apply heat as the instruction says it cures in an hour if heat treated so i can put it back in right away

I always let it sit a full day to harden. I’m curious if heat will cure faster and at least as hard. On the trail I epoxied at 9:00 at night and was 4 wheeling the next morning at 8. Still holding!

I went 4x4ing a pice of plastic from the shroud hit the fan and went straight into the rad a decent hole, I got it down using creek water to the nearest auto part store epoxied it drove like 5 minutes after as it felt solid as a rock. Been driving for a week have a spare just waiting for this to go

Wonder how long this held. I found out the hard way that epoxy resin desintegerates when exposed to glycol... Aka antifreeze. So this may hold a couple hours, but not any longer.

Still holding!!

do you really need anti freeze in a country where its hot all year long
@filoncmike Жыл бұрын
@@boyscout-p3u James! It also is an anti corrosive. In California you are only a couple of hours from freezing temps in the mountains. Cheers!!

JB Weld high heat epoxy, carb cleaner, sand paper, wire brush, device to pressurize your radiator and soapy water to find the leaks!!

how is it doing so far with the heat ?
@filoncmike Жыл бұрын
Trail tested tough! I have a 190 degree thermostat so the motor runs between 190 and 205. The last trip out no leaks until I had a fan strike caused a leak. I used more JB and trailed it all day the next day. Still no leaks! Pressure and heat no problem so far! Good luck!!

@@filoncmike may give it a go though not sure it will stand up to the heat and pressure for too long.. its only a single tiny hole on aluminum radiator and have no low melt alu rods available... Thanks for sharing..

After it dries make delicate scratches on the jb weld with sand paper and another layer. Wait till it dries. Make delicate scratces on the jb weld again with sand paper and add another layer.

I have an epoxy what is stand up with soldering at temperature ~300 celsius or so. So the heat is may not be a problem. May the crack is not stoping after epoxy was cured, because the stress is continue by coolant temperature and pressure cycleing and the conducted vibration from by connected hoses. Vacum trick is phenomenal. In this case i go to and see what is going on at the main hose, do some vibration testing at any diffrent motor RPM. To find what the cause is and solve it before go to replace the repaired radiator. I think this is might save lot of money and time for you in next few years.

Duracell, perhaps if you drill small holes at the end of the crack before you apply epoxy the cracking will stop. Good luck!!
