Thank you very much for posting this. I have seen a lot of weld failures in aluminum frames for ultra lite RVs. These weld cracks can cause catastrophic failures so it's good to know you are a competent aluminum welder. Did the same repair on a similar trailer. Used bolts as well to reinforce and was actually first paying job with PW 225. Customer admitted to not opening the valve when off loading a vehicle.

Great job! Another great video as always. 2 questions what did the penatration of the weld look like off the old bracket? From the video it didn't look there was any. 2 did you use the primeweld 225x for welds? Thank you

If you look at it closely the original bracket actually had kind of bad geometry because it stuck out too far, whether or not it was actually broken from dragging, im sorry but I'm kind of skeptical on that one. It still looks like a really thick bracket attached to a not so thick plate attached to the chassis that was relying on that top bead of weld for all of its strength. It looks like it the hydraulic ram would rip it off. Either way nice job I think the way you repaired it is a whole lot stronger than the original setup. you shortened the bracket and now the stress is on 3 steel bolts, STEEL BOLTS!!! vs one aluminum bead.

6 bolts in total 4 through bolts and 2 tapped bolts 😎

@@amcustomfab yeah I know, but think about it the stress is like 99% on the top 3 bolts. just like the welds the top weld was the most important.

That was Johnson's paste wax. Which have since been discontinued and is hella expensive. But any cutting wax will greatly increase the efficiency of a flap disc grinding aluminum and not loading up

@@amcustomfab thank you sir… have you ever tried the Walter enduro-flex aluminum trim able flap discs? hands down the best I’ve ever used on aluminum. And the last forever! 3 different grits. Not cheap, but worth it..
