What a player! Believe it or not, he played in more than 20% of the matches Wales have ever played! (158/778)

Always loved watching Wales play SA you always knew it was going to be a war and everyone was going to give everything they had. Unfortunately for my side the Saffas usually won 😉. Good luck defending the World Cup this year. Go Bokke.

@@garethrichmond4388 Very kind of you, mate, thank you! I have fond memories of some classic arm wrestles between our two sides - particularly a game we actually lost, the end of year tour in 2016. I was fortunate enough to be able to watch that at Millenium Stadium and then talk rugby late into the night with some Welsh fans who came over to buy us a consolation beer in a Cardiff pub after the game. Good luck for the World Cup, and I hope you bounce back from your recent problems soon, so we can get in another arm wrestle or two :)

Great video as ever Andrew, not gonna lie, was quite surprised when he announced his retirement, along with Tipuric ( hoping you do a video on him soon), was hoping he would do one more World Cup then retire, nevertheless, he will forever be a legend of the game.

@Fordmister Жыл бұрын
Not really, if you read between the lines Gats has probably told both they likely wont make the squad for this world cup and aren't in his plans for the next WC cycle. Give the players a chance to retire on their own terms rather than the news story being them not making the WC squad
@karlclifford1176 Жыл бұрын
@@Fordmister why name them in the squad if that’s the case
@Fordmister Жыл бұрын
@@karlclifford1176 because its not the WC squad, its a preliminary training squad if (as I suspect is whats going to happen) Gats plans on taking a very young team to the WC as this cycle is already a bit of a right off having the experience of players like Alun and Tipps during their preparation for the tournament would have been invaluable even if he had no real intention of taking them to the tournament itself. There were always going to be a number of players dropped from that training squad before the WC
@karlclifford1176 Жыл бұрын
@@Fordmister dunno mate, its tournament rugby and they’re on the so called easier side of the draw. Their still a decent match for anybody in world rugby and I just think getting rid of two guys with almost 300 caps between them is a bit mad. I do think Wyn Jones is kind of fair enough considering how much punishment he’s taken and he’s been on the wane a couple of years now but he would still be brilliant to have around a young squad. Tipuric I think is still unbelievable and would merit a place in the starting 15

I know most will disagree with me, but I always thought he was a bit overrated. He was a good rugby player obviously, but I never found him to be on the level of a Retallick, Etzebeth, De Jager, Skelton or Itoje. He was a charismatic leader and a figure of international rugby in any case, he will be missed!

@larvlalo9773 Жыл бұрын
@@AndrewDavidForde Followers in general. I'd like to make it clear that I have nothing against him and he had a real aura, I'm just talking about the rugby player. To make amends, I find that here in France, Dusautoir is a bit of an equivalent. He was an outstanding defender, an exceptional leader but weak ball in hand, not fast enough, not above tactically. I could name other players like that who are a bit overrated.

3 pro14 titles, 2 Six Nations title wins, 3 Six Nations Grandslams, 9 Lions tests, 1 Series win, 1 series draw, Played in 2 world cup semi finals and 2 world cup quarter finals. He is the most capped player ever for a reason
@larvlalo9773 Жыл бұрын
@@brynjones3530 That's the problem with the overrated word, which is often taken to mean "bad". He's been playing in a country where there was less competition in his position than in SA or Australia, where he proved he's a really good player. BUT I don't put him in the category of a great second row as opposed to the list of players I've quoted below.
