I just bought a pre owned 60bg and I’m honestly shocked by the tone and volume coming from this thing. The low end is huge but the being mahogany the kids and highs are right there with it. Kudos Alvarez

If I wasn’t able to have the Martins I’ve had then I’d definitely go with Alvarez. No doubt. Best acoustics made overseas in my opinion.

I bought my md60bg from pennylane. Plays like the wind and has a nice full sound. Plays easier than my 5000 dollar martin. Don't buy from online warehouses, they don't humidify properly. My experience with pennylane is the keep the humidity spot on. Also they have great techs to set it up perfectly. They shipped it to me from florida to newhampshire, it was in perfect condition and sounds great

Thanks for the bluegrass picking demo. Most demos I have seen focus on strumming. I have the electric version of this guitar and I love it. My tech had to tweak the action a bit, but that was pretty much it...although I found the stock tuners to have a bit of slop. I have bought some Grover 18:1 tuning keys as replacements. I have a Martin GPC35E, too, and it rarely leaves the stand or case. This is a huge value!

I own 5 alvarez guitars. 3 are Yairi's which are a step above. My first guitar that would stay in tune was an Alvarez 5043 back in about 1974. I still have it today, and it still sounds pretty good. For the money, Alvarez is hard to beat, although there are more and more affordable good guitars these days. I'm looking forward to playing one of the new Laureate models. All solid woods. Rosewood, ebony, sitka spruce, and bone nut and saddle. They went back to a more traditional bridge. I never could get used to the new style bridge. About $1400.

Thx for the new licks ! great clean tasty sounding... J.P. Cormier says that K+K pups sound better then the Fishmans. Also did they not change from Fishman Pups?... so I guess how do they compare? Better to buy a MD60bg or go with the MD60bge? for the money? Cases are shipped separately now??

Travis O'dell I set myself up for disappointment when I opened the box for the Taylor 224ce koa I purchased last.. I was immediately turned off by how quiet it was. When I opened this one up today I wasn’t expecting much for the price... needless to say I was straight blown away with the volume, tone, and sustain it carries. I don’t see myself even glancing at a Martin anytime soon. This guitar does everything I need it to plus some.

There's the Eastman E1D (solid Sitka spruce/solid Sapele, ebony fingerboard/bridge), which could be the only true all-solid acoustic dreadnought out there that can give the MD60BG a SERIOUS run for its money in the price/value department. Comes in at well under $600, last time I checked... 😉

Hi, wonder if you could help me. I'm really interested in this guitar, would you consider its voice to be vintage or more modern sounding? I'm really not a fan of the jangly bright modern sound and I think it's hard to tell from a video sometimes. Sounds great though! Thanks.
@PennyLaneMusicEmporium5 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen, this guitar sounds more vintage but it does not sound like a vintage guitar. because of the mahogany back and sides it sounds warmer, with more pronounced bass but also drier and with less sustain. It is a bluegrass kind of guitar.

how does the LR Baggs PUP compare to the Fishman?.. do they all come with Hard cases from factory?
@PennyLaneMusicEmporium4 жыл бұрын
Big Boss Fishman and L R Baggs are completely two different kind of pickups. They are both great and there is an extensive number of resources online that compares the two but ultimately it comes to personal preference. The guitars usually come with the hardshell cases from the factory however there is now a shortage on those cases with an ETA of early summer

KW KELLY it’s really a Martin HD28 copy. Actually a hybrid between HD28 copy and and D-18 copy. Great spruce top and great looking mahogany back and sides. Sounds brighter than a Martin but it does have that growl to it. I could use a bit more low end and more separation. Well mass guitar at a very affordable price.

@@PennyLaneMusicEmporium SIR Thanx for this review . not to be snotty here but the Martin D28 is a rosewood back and sides guitar . this could not be a copy of that as it is a mahagany back and sides guitar . therefore it is just a guitar that Alvarez has made .

Earls Pearl well, thank you SIR, you can be correct and be snotty at the same time. Let’s set the record straight once for all. It’s a copy of a Martin Dread, to be exact is a mix between HD 28 and D18. It has the herringbone trim like the HD28 and the mahogany back and sides like the D18.
