There's no people i respect more than people who dedicate themselves to this kind of work. Don't think there is anything more virtuous and decent to do with our life than dedicating it to help animals in need. We as human beings have the intelligence and the capacity to do so much good for less fortunate beings if we just choose to. It's not glorious, it doesn't garner tons of money or status for the personal benefit, no, it's hard work and takes a lot of knowledge and perseverance to do this kind of work. But what you get out of it is something money can't buy. A real connection with nature in many various forms.

Awesome that you teach native culture using crows! Interesting tidbit, shamanism within eastern Russia, mostly found within Siberia has a Raven spirit who was thought to be the creator of everything is named “Kutkh” (variant names). Native Americans along the coast of Alaska that faces Russia seem to also have a motif related to the Raven, Inuit (not only them but most Native American groups [who are thought to be descendants of ancient Siberians]) shamanism also depicts a raven spirit creator, but also display him as a trickster. Somewhat important to note that it’s believed the ancient Siberians crossed an old land bridge ~20,000 years ago “Beringia”, this is supported by DNA of ancient Tungusic peoples found also in many Native Americans blood, also supported by the fact there’s Yupik people in Russia and America (they were the last to cross the land bridge)

Many lizards will use their tongue to identify where they are in the environment. I experienced some Texas spiny lizards I had for a lecture. When I was attempting to release the lizards licked me and ran up to on sat on -my head. They did not want to go. I think they associated me with food and safety.
