I love Alvin. Great character and person, but amazing to watch on the field. As a Vols fan he is one of my favorite Vols of all-time and that was while he was playing too. The fact that he is now a household name doesn't surprise me, but the fact that people don't know where he came from breaks my heart as a Tennessee fan. It is a testament to how unbelievably inept, awful, terrible, and bad our coaching staff was (looking at you, Butch Jones). He was one of our best players and was used as a change of pace back to Jalen Hurd, when he should've been a featured player to almost never come off the field. Hurd was good and a physical runner, but Alvin was special. Had a solid record with him but could've done even more, had more stats, and not lost some inexcusable losses had Kamara been used properly. I'm just glad he has a good coaching staff now. Unfortunately this has been a theme of Tennessee players.

AK is a lot like Barry Sanders not the fastest, but makes up with his vision and elusiveness. Sometimes 40 times don’t really translate to on field speed. To me out of every RB he the closet RB to be like Barry Sanders but he is better WR then Barry was but some things he does reminds me of Barry Sanders skill sets.

Saban wasnt about to entertain Alvin after that, after all 'ol' Nick has always had a complete team of nothing but the best of the best 1st, 2nd an 3rd string players. I agree ... Bama had a slew of RB ... Heisman winner Travis Henry was one of them and one of the guys AK competed against when he was in high school. I think AK wanted out if they weren't going to play him. UT was almost the same but he got to touch the ball more however they thought Hurd and Kelly was better. AK just does his thing ... the way he trains is best for the way he runs and it shows on the field.

He's still awaiting a hearing from his last idiot behavior and will miss several games as a result on top of the games he's missing now due to injury. He has to be on the field making plays for someone to pay him millions. He's good at what he does, but he definitely brought his problems with him. A highly trained athlete beating up some weak guy in Vegas. You can't take the hood out of most of these guys.
