One thing that always sparked my imagination with Drew is, after a serious injury to his throwing shoulder, the guy works hard and gets better every year. This is a normal guy who is normal sized. He isn’t an athletic monster like Mahomes or Newton. He is a guy like me. And he is a guy that continues to make me proud to be a Louisiana native and Saints fan. I knew we scored big when we got Brees from our brother Austin, TX.

I go down to Marco Island, Florida every year and the NFLPA used to stay in the same hotel as I did. I met Drew Brees when i was about 11 or 12 and he was really nice. Patted me on the head, called me buddy and everything. All around great guy. Seemed like a good dad too (his baby son was there). I'm from Baltimore so I'm pulling for my Ravens in the super bowl but it'd be great for Brees to get a second ring.

Been following Drew since the Chargers but have always been a Saints fan. I still remember the day the Saints signed him, and I was estatic about it. I never let our super bowl win down and still don't because even almost 10 years later, it's still more relevant than super bowls 13 years ago. I do believe that 2018 is his last season, and hope that Taysom Hill and Teddy Bridgewater ca continue the winning path for the Saints. However Brees is one of those "you never know" players, kinda like Favre when he annouced his retirement the second time with the "is he really retiring this time?". Brees was a tremendous help in getting us out of being a constant wildcard team.

@@projectawesome5675 you probably say that because he's been all over sports media recently, but I've been a brees fan for the better portion of a decade, and I promise you he's never gotten the recognition he deserves. for example, i didn't see him appear in any top 10 qbs of all time lists until like last year even though he's been easily top 5 for a long time. he's the only qb to throw for 5000 yards more than once, he's the fastest qb to reach 40, 50, and 60 thousand yards, he holds the record for longest streak with a td pass, he had about 10 seasons in a row with at least 30 td passes, which no qb has ever done, he has the highest career and single season completion percentage, and he's top 10 all time in comebacks, passer rating, td:int, yards, touchdowns, completions, etc. most importanly, he's one of only two qb's ever to win the super bowl without a top 10 defense. the man single-handedly took the saints from being "the aints" to winning a super bowl. he ressurected the franchise and the city, after suffering a supposedly career ending injury and being left to dry. ALL of this is before the last few seasons and just off the top of my head (to be fair I am a hardcore brees fan). now, he also has the record for all time completions and passing yards, and he is third all time in passer rating. the only reason he hasn't won mvp is because he is possibly the unluckiest quarterback of all time. every time he has an mvp-caliber season (which is basically always) someone always has a slighty better season on some way. not to mention, his defense and special teams have CONSTANTLY let him down, and I'm not just talking about the divisional round miracle last season. Remember the broncos game where he threw the game winning td pass against the #1 defense in the broncos and all the saints had to do was kick the extra point to win, but instead it got blocked and returned for a 2 point conversion the other way which resulted in a 1 point win for the broncos? or how about the time brees' offense had the same career ppg average as tom brady's patriots, yet had a worse record than brady because the defense was literally twice as bad? maybe you remember when the saints are in arguably the toughest division in football? it is revolting that brees hasn't been in the GOAT conversation until now, so respectfully, don't you dare say the dude gets over credited. if you want overcredited, look at tom brady, ben roethlisberger, or cam newton. brady is certainly in the goat conversation and the others are certainly not bad, but they definitely get too much credit. i wont get into that today though.
