Alvin ooozes West ham. A true West Ham legend. Privaliged enough to have watched his whole career with us from start to finish. Some might say John Lennon is the greatest Scouser that ever lived!! I'd say it was our Alvin Martin. Thanks Len

I didn't realise how nostalgic I find memeories of this period till I started watching your films Len. Something to do with how old I was back then or how brilliant the team really was in those days. John LyalI, what a fucking gentleman genius, I love the tracks you use for soundtracks as well. Can't really beat it: music and football from back in the day. Can not believe it is 40 years ago!!!! Keep it up Len, you're a diamond mate. COYI!

What a good, clever talker Alvin is. Very interesting from start to finish. These are superb, Len. Great work. As a Stratford boy myself, it’s great to see us portrayed as Cockneys that aren’t all the same but that we are all Cockneys.

Great interview, memories and a top top man Alvin . . . . It's funny what we remember from 40 years ago. I was 21 that season and me and my mate Robbie Mac had a fiver each on us at 40/1. As we went further through the rounds, I convinced my old workmate Albert to put 2-3 quid on @ about 16/1 . . . . Mac and me went to all the cup rounds and vaguely remember a crew of Leeds fans looking for trouble outside Elland Rd. What a great night that semi replay was, the coach trip back and soaking it all in the next day at work. . . . Don't remember too much of the final as we were sat/standing down the front in a crap spot near the corner flag to the opposite end we scored, Can't remember if we went back to Upton Park after the game for a knees up or if it was the next day that we got merrily pissed in the Central . . . .(maybe both!!) Anyway, picking up our winnings from the local bookie in Northfleet sticks in my mind and topped off a fabulous weekend and cup run. . . Didn't know it at the time but we were lucky to have been there and didn't imagine that a whole generation of Hammers fans would not yet have had the experience and joy of a cup winning run. . . .

The 85/6 team always gets the plaudits, but I always liked the 80/1 team. Coming off the back of the FA Cup win, winning the Second Division title with a record points total, quarter finalists in the CWC before going out to the eventual winners, League Cup finalists and running Liverpool to a replay.. great team.

Bitter Sweet...Seems like yesterday but a lifetime ago. All the squad that year , best days. What the club meant back then when your younger I think certainly means more than today's bleeding game . Crying shame his son David didn't get to get the training and remain 1st team choice and from probably the best win of the season. Keep it in the family, (what family ) WEST HAM FAMILY THATS WHAT, atleast that's what west ham meant to me when I was in the late 70s 80s. Cheers Len 👊 Hope your keeping well 'X'

Brilliant video in total thank you...loved seeing that run By Alan Devonshire from his own box...he was the greatest at literally avoiding tackles I ever saw....mesmerising...and I remember when you see the ball going out to that shirt with number 6 on it the murmur that went up immediately!
