spirit in the sky, yes i do too, thats because it ws written by peter shelley after he heard spirit in the sky and he based it on this

Written and performed by Peter Shelley as "Alvin Stardust". Peter did not want to be the face of Alvin, so they brought in Shane Fenton to take over as Alvin Stardust. The song is rumoured to be based around Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum.

What's amazing is the fact that Alvin isn't even singing on this.... It is in actual fact Peter Shelly of Love me love my dog fame !!! Any truth in the rumour that he's wearing false side burns ? Anyway's, love it to bits

+mrbillhicks Yes that is correct, he said in an interview that he had to get false side burns because he dyed his hair black the night before and had streaks of blue that had stained the sides of his face.
