Today we lost Tom Verlaine. He will never be forgotten.

I first listened to marquee moon as a 16 year old. Spent days and years trying to learn guitar and bass and then realised I wasn't a musician. I was looking through. Y music the day before Tom Verlaine died. My wife said " what are putting on?" I answered. " feels like a Television night." Next morning he was gone from this earth, but he has not gone away 😢.

@danielandrewgrant2 жыл бұрын
“Alex Chilton” was really about Alex Chilton. This is a cool song but doesn’t have anything to do with Tom Verlaine or Television. Alvvays doesn’t even sound like they are influenced by Television. It’s a nice tip of the hat, though.
@im35132 жыл бұрын
Theyve been referencing a few bands since the last album. Jamc, tvps, Cocteau twins (slightly). This one seems like it's the primitives, mbv, and television. 😁 To me at least.

The lead singer has a great voice, in fact the whole band does, but all their vocals sound washed out so you cannot hear the lyrics. In fact the whole band sounds washed out, you cannot hear the individual instruments. Their songs also do not often have perceptible bridges and choruses. For the high level of talent this band has, I just sort of wish they would utilize it in a more traditional musical way. Maybe some guitar licks from Tim Pierce and a different producer with a different angle? Calling Rick Beato. The dream sound is a cool experiment but move on please.
@secluded_little_spot Жыл бұрын
Have you considered that all these things you've mentioned hold appeal for people who enjoy this genre? The washed out vocal and instrumentation of shoegaze/dream pop is what people like about them so much
@mikedelossantos477511 ай бұрын
lol no I'm good. this is fucking sublime, makes my head tingle . and what you want them to snort a bunch of coke and put out some crappy Rumours-type "masterpiece"? somehow I don't think thats in the cards. thank God . Up shoegaze sir! This is for Smiths and Cocteau Twins lovers haha
