GAME: Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed
AUTHOR: Monolith Soft
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 takes place in Aionios, a world resulting from the fusion between the settings of the previous two games. In Aionios, human life is subjected to ten-year lifespans, with each year referred to as a "term." Two warring nations, Keves and Agnus, engage in perpetual war with the purpose of extending their own lifespan. As the story progresses six soldiers, Noah, Eunie and Lanz from Keves, and Mio, Taion and Sena from Agnus, gain the ability to merge into lifeforms called Ouroboros. Their journey is obstructed by the Consuls from each nation, which have the ability to transform into a lifeform similar to Ouroboros, called Moebius.

By the way Nico, the people they were referring to with “them” wasn’t Melia or Nia, but Pneuma and Logos. Note how Matthew’s gauntlets opened up to reveal Pneuma’s core crystal, and an emphasis was given to N’s “sword of the end” which glowed the same purple as Logo’s core crystal.
@Flomen01
@Flomen01 Жыл бұрын
The purple glow could easily just mean Moebius. I think people are jumping the gun way too much on this one considering how huge of a reveal it would be if Logos is in fact alive. It could just as easily be Pyra and Mythra Rex was referring to

Beyond the radio being a huge reference to Xenosaga and Xenoblade Chronicles X, it’s cool how it acts as a nice contrast to Na’el’s words. As she’s describing what kind of peaceful and nice world with no killing that world is, that same world is spilling all of its problems onto her, and it’s all going over her head. Human rights issues, escaping the so-called “paradise” on ships to distant galaxies… it’s a nice contrast. I also really like how the ending theme has the same singer as Kokoro from Xenosaga, and even has a similar flute sound to the one that that song had. It’s a really nice throwback. I *also* love how Rex’s beliefs are still coming through now, even in the end. His “pass it on” to Glimmer is the same as what he said to Jin at the end of 2. It’s great.

One interesting thing about the radio scene that nobody seems to have commented on how it sets up parallels and contrasts between two relationship in the series, namely Future Redeemed's Alpha and Ne'el and XC2's Rex and Prya(/Mythra/Pneuma). In both cases, you have a portion of the Trinity Processor, a god-like entity, creating a vision of a Utopia from selective memories of the old (i.e. our) world which serves as the beginning of a journey. The utopic visions even take place around the same object, the space elevator that would become the World Tree, with XC2's Elysium being at the top and FR's cul-de-sac being at the bottom. The only difference being that in XC2, it was the beginning of protagonist's journey and in FR, it was the beginning of an antagonist's journey. I guess the difference is that for all the troubles they had, both Rex and Pyra still had good intentions at heart, while Na'el and Alpha were so disgusted and disillusioned by the world that they wanted to destroy in order to remake, just has Almathus in XC2 want to.

That ending man. From the callbacks to literally every game from Xenogears to Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the voice acting, THE MUSIC, literally everything about this ending was perfect. The ending made me cry for 3 hours and I wouldn’t haven’t any other way. Also something you didn’t notice was that the Pneuma Trinity Processor was in Matthew’s Gauntlet and it is heavily implied by the camera shots that N’s Sword has the Logos Processor inside of it. In hindsight the purple light of N's sword of the end is quite obviously the same coulor as Malos' Energy in 2, so it explains why it was so special. And explains why N/Noah are so special. They are likely the current equivalent of being Malos' Driver which could also explain why Noah was reborn again even after N came to be. Though that leaves the question of Mio, seeing as that explanation does not work for her. But then again maybe Nia and Poppi were pulling the strings for that one

So yah, N essentially had the power of Malos/Logos in his sword while Matthew had the power of Pyra/Mythra/Pnuema in his Gauntlet. Noah later got them both in the end(in the form of his own sheath as well as the rest of the power when he assimilated N) as well as the Sword of Orgins, which represents/IS the party from Xenoblade 1. TLDR: Noah was quite literally carrying the wills of both sides.

The final boss theme is absolutely based on “Zanza the Divine” by Manami Kiyota in XC1. It’s fitting how Alpha takes on Zanza’s theme as a foundation for his own. Also, the ending theme, “Future Awaits,” is sung by Joanne Hogg, who sang the credits theme for Xenogears. It truly is a sendoff for Xenoblade, especially since the credits played scenes from XC1, XC2, and XC3 during each verse. I also love the post-credits scene for clarifying the major question after base XC3’s ending: Will the worlds merge? The answer is now a definitive yes, and that means the saga ends on a happy note. While we may not know the details of what happens with everyone (like who Mythra’s child is), we know that things will work out well, and that alone is a great way to conclude the Klaus Saga. Speaking of the ending, that light heading towards Earth will spark debates for the next few years. Some people believe it’s KOS-MOS after the ending of Xenosaga 3 in which she finds Lost Jerusalem/Earth. Others think it’s the White Whale (the ship in XCX) landing on planet Mira. Personally, I don’t think the new merged world is planet Mira from XCX since Mira is an alien planet devoid of human life. The fused worlds of Bionis and Alrest would definitely be full of people (such as the casts of XC1, XC2, & XC3), so I don’t believe this world is Mira. KOS-MOS is more likely to me since part of the Xenosaga games was refinding Lost Jerusalem (Earth) after thousands of years of humanity being away from Earth.
@dragonhunter1315
@dragonhunter1315 Жыл бұрын
I'm definitely leaning more towards the star being KOS-MOS. What this all means is that Saviorite rebels' attack on the orbital station and Klaus' experiment that split the world into 2, Zanza's desire to be the sole God, Amalthus' genocide of Tornan people and turning Malos into a killing machine, and Z's endless now, it's all Dimitri Yuriev's fault.

So... the radio lol I think it's pretty given there is a lot going on with it, but it seems to confirm that Xenoblade X is indeed referenced in some way, but much more importantly, Xenosaga might now heavily tied to the future of the series. X gets a cheeky nod in form of ships transporting people to space, but Xenosaga, oh boy. On the radio itself you can see the logo of the Vector Industries, important group from Xenosaga, Dimitri Yuriev is one of its main antagonists, Saviorites are the group who attacked the "World Tree" where Klaus conducted his experiment, their name actually being just new localized name for Salvators, also from Xenosaga. But also, most importantly, that falling blue star is most likely a recreation of Xenosaga's ending where KOS-MOS is falling through space and it's heavily implied she makes it back to Earth or in this case whatever the fusion of the two worlds is now. Well, looks like she did after so many years. Oh, and the credits theme is sung by the same lady who did Xenogears theme song. And if you still have doubts, Bandai Namco is credited as Special Thanks in both the credits and game's legal info, including mentioning Xenosaga by name. Xenosaga remaster when, Bandai.

This DLC definitely did one thing in regards to the main game and that is N. Here we see him still caring about his family and relatives (Ghondor, Matthew) but still he pushes forward Moebius's agenda to continue the endless now. We also have my personal favorite twist, the fact that N actually went ahead and awoken the true powers of Ouroboros that eventually would landslide into Moebius's defeat with Noah and co. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the DLC. Not to mention its highly theorized that Ns sheath or even his Lucky Seven holds Logos in there, hense why they were able to defeat Alpha because both Pneuma and Logos were there. Logos really loves his anime swordman 😉. Also, Im suprised you didnt notice but it showed Pneumas crystal inside Matthews gauntlets when he punched Ns blade... which eventually gets passed down to Riku once Matthew leaves recorded history and is eventually reforged into Noahs gauntlet thing for his Lucky Seven.

There are a few things of note that you missed: --Malos actually does appear! ...kind of. Rex yells "If only those two were here!" with N looking down at his blade. When Matthew leaps to strike N's blade, his fists open up to reveal Pneuma'score crystal. And finally, when Rex says "If it were them, I don't think they'd bat an eye at helping." As the camera pans through Matthew's gauntlets (Pneuma) and N's sword of the end (Logos/Malos). --Radio Radio Radio As many have pointed out, the radio is a massive lore dump that canonizes the xenogears series. Allegedly. I never played those games, but the internet has never lied to me, so I'm willing to trust. --We actually do get to see more of the ending of 3. After the worlds split apart again, a blue and yellow light envelopes the respective planets, two colors that are commonly linked to Keves and Agnus interlinking. The worlds of 1 and 2, as a result of everything that happened in Aionios caused the two worlds to interlink. They have become one, at last. --Star at the end is probably KOS-MOS Again, I have never played Xenosaga. But Namco is credited in the credits, leaving KOS-MOS to be the most likely identity.

So by far the craziest thing about this game was full cards up confirmation from Takahashi that he's still continuing on with the absolutely bonkers ideas that he cooked up during Xenogears. The radio scene is actually really good since even if you didn't understand the context of it the overall scene is still very strong in conveying Na'el's emotions and how what she wants isn't going to work out. But also the terms dropped in that radio cast had bits of lore from Xenogears (the Philadelphia class ship is the same kind of ship seen in the beginning of the game), Project Exodus and the White Whale (Xenoblade X), Savorites, Vector, and Dimitri (Xenosaga) and there's very good arguments that the weird blue light at the end is Kosmos. Plus Noah disappearing at the end of 3 lines up with the two worlds reconverging into one.

Everyone has alrd said what needed to be said so i will just leave you with this fun fact: You never got to see it, but Monolith actually DID deactivate both the menu jingle and the chain attack theme for this last section. If you had entered the menu in the boss room nefore engaging Alpha, the menu would open but it would play a subdued version of the bg music. If you had used a chain attack in the final battle it would be the final battle theme but iirc, they add a bit of rock guitar riffs into it to make it even more intense. TLDR; Monolith DID hear us about the menu and chain attack music, but it almost feels like they wanted to troll us by only fixing the issue in the last minutes of the game haha (& at the same time, it kind of drives the importance and epicness of that battle home further, so thats genius).

One thing I've always found really interesting about this DLC is how Alpha contrasts Z. In the base game the villains want to preserve their static "endless now" at the cost of everyone's future, while in the DLC the villains want to destroy any remnant of the past and create a world they think would be unburdened by it. Both of these are of course actually impossible, and I like the ultimate answer both parties come to in the end-the world must move forward, but it does so for the sake of the everyone living there and all that led them to that point, not to damn all of it.

So Regarding the Pneuma Core being in Matthew's Knuckles, I personally believe that Ghondor had found it at some point in his youth and used it as a "Core" for the knuckles. And I still stand by the Knuckles having been made into the sheath that Noah uses in the Base Game. Which means that our Swordsman throwing his weapon into the water is him Throwing Mythra and Pyra into the water. But hey, if Melia can keep The Monado REX+. Then Nia kept some salvager's gear to use to get the sword out of the water. Also the Post Credits Scene with a light going to the reunited world is implied to be the Body of KOS MOS floating towards Lost Jerusalem shortly after the universe is rebooted during the events of Xenosaga Episode III: Also sprach Zarathustra.

*A:* Ok, we have to make up this world's trinity processor and one of you have to take the role of Logos! *Rex:* Might as well be Pneuma since I was one in a sense but if you're going to be Ontos and I take on Pneuma then that leaves Shulk. *Shulk:* ....damn On a latter note, it's been a satisfying end for Klaus's experiment and the reference to Xenosaga of all things. There was some comment that told about the bonus line from XS3 where a blue light was emitting from KOS-MOS and if we take the radio by heart (like most people did) then, not only is Xenosaga connected via radio/Vector Industries, but it could also mean that Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade have been an "overarching storyline" with the Zohar/Conduit being that connection along with some aspects that carried over from the last Xeno game. But that's just me. EDIT: XC2 is honestly a game that may be my favorite out of the Klaus Trilogy since it has all these designs but had a story that just makes you feel something. While XC1's ending makes me feel satisfied in the end, I cried like a baby towards the ending of XC2. I honestly recommend playing it through the JP dub first since the UK dub direction, from what I heard, was a bad that the VAs didn't have time to do a redo in some lines.

Maybe not only Riku. Noah also had the red-like Origin Metal that Matthew had (inherited by his grandfather, and his father as well). How did Noah got his blade to be made of said metal? Matthew went on his travels right at the end of the events in FR, but it is unknown to history what exactly did he do during the time other than exploring the world and coming back to the city (with a family)? I have the double theory that Matthew either lost his fists somehow (doubt it since they are inherited to a person's iris), OR Matthew on his travels actually found Noah, his great grandfather reincarnated inside the system. Who knows what his experience with encountering Noah was; however, to me it is most likely that Matthew decided to give Noah the metal of his fists (Pneuma's core along with it), and since Noah's blade is naturally a sword the metal just adapted to it. After that Noah kept repeating the cycle until he was the Noah we played as in the Base Game. There's a lot of maybes, but Riku could've been more inclined to give Noah the Sword of Origin, precisely because he noticed Noah had Matthew's Origin metal on top of judging Noah as a noble person.

This DLC was fantastic in many respects, but when you get down to it, they left us with a lot of unanswered questions that I believe should have been addressed in this game/DLC, and I'm not even considering what we heard on the radio (which you didn't seem to pay attention to whatsoever; didn't you play Saga?). Although there’s still the matter of KOS-MOS possibly being that light at the end of the credits; the possibility of Chronicles canonically crossing over with Saga reminds of that one cross over game “Project X Zone”, or more specifically PXZ2, where KOS-MOS makes an appearance alongside Fiora. Speaking of Fiora, I wish at the very least she had been addressed in a few more scenes, particularly within the main story rather than just an affinity scene or two. I pictured a scenario in which Shulk would discuss his mechanical arm with Nikol, which would then lead to a Ship of Theseus-style topic: replacing one's body parts with mechanical components. Shulk would note just how horrible such a concept would be for most people, but after recalling Fiora's former circumstances, promises that anyone with a strong enough will can remain themselves and do right by the people and places they treasure, no matter what gets replaced. Something along such lines, I suppose. That's another parallel I'm surprised not many people noticed: Shulk not only lost use of his right arm like Dunban, but he's also partially mechanical like Fiora once was, albeit to a lesser extent. To this day, I believe the only actual appearances I've seen of her after XC1 are in the DLC for XC2 and curiously enough, Project X Zone 2 on the 3DS. Those, however, are regarded as non-canon and fan service. Both she and Shulk's appearances in XC2's DLC have no bearing on the overall story, and it wouldn't make sense otherwise since are tons of contradictions. I did enjoy how they made Fiora an extremely overpowered Blade. I also enjoy what they did with her in Project x Zone 2. I don't know much about PXZ, and I'm hesitant to learn more because I don't have much of a relationship with the majority of the cast of characters cross over. However, based on what I've seen, I know that they at the very least attempted to make her appearance in the plot make sense, even going so far as to explain when exactly in XC1's timeline she was transferred from her world. In some ways, PXZ2 has more regard for her character than the Xeno series has since the first game ended; from the few cutscenes I've watched, I appreciated the interplay between her and KOS-MOS. Now I want MOAR!!!

A and Rex noticed while N granted Matthew the Fists of the End, that Logos(Malos)'s core crystal shards(being purple too) is in N's sword sheath, and that Matthew had Pnuema ever since the incident with his grandad back in the city, which was passed to him since then(Ghondor's powers were green) which also unshackled A from Alpha. It was also said that due to that, Noah from the main game actually threw away Pnuema at the end scene as Noah inherited Pnuema's core crystal(his sword sheath transforms to something similar to Matthew's gauntlet)

In truth, the first game resonated with me and a lot people strongly in a number of aspects, just as the second game did; it might have something to do with the fact that most people these days are playing the Definitive Edition, which is worlds better and is easier to play through, partly thanks to its quality of life changes. XC1 became popular not just of XC2 but because they definitively did the game justice by improving it, and in the process we all fell in love with the characters much more easily than before. But honestly, hearing you admit things like it being not being nearly as memorable doesn't give me a good feeling. Part of me would like to believe that your underwhelming feelings towards XC1 were due to circumstance; would things been different had you waited the Definitive edition? I do hope you revisit the game one day and give the appreciation it deserves.
@byronlyons3548
@byronlyons3548 Жыл бұрын
I think it would be the same way with him anyways. Because I've played through it on the Definitive Edition, and still think highly of 2 above 1. And now 3 as well. While the story is still good, very solid. Better than most RPGs out there, which should be saying something. But there is still some things that fall short about the game at the end. For one, gameplay. It's combat is very simple, way too simple actually. Definitive didn't really change that, other than how much you can braindead cheese it now, with lvl 12 art books. Some things still aren't marked down and easily findable, such as Colony 6 construction materials needed (dear god this sucks). Secondly, the characters. A lot of them really fall short, and gets pushed off to the wayside a bit too soon before even the last quarter of the game. So much so, that the game mostly ends up being Shulk's story, with maybe Melia at times. Shulk being very annoyingly boneheaded at times, especially at the moment of stopping Dunban, just to talk-no-jutsu him. Prematurely ending Dunban's character arc right there. Sharla is mostly just there, until her fiancée shows up, which is very short lived for sure. Riki, even more just there, and kind of adds nothing to the cast, asides from more playable characters for some variety. Reyn, as a lovable buffoon he is, he definitely ends up pretty far behind. And Fiora, well, she just says and thinks about Shulk, and that's it when Meyneth leaves. While having good, if not great personality at times, tons of stuff that the story does to mostly ignore them, and not giving them much moments to grow. Hell, I would be hard press to consider any of the heart to hearts, mostly due to the high affinity requirements needed for most of them. Which requires you to using said characters a lot, sometimes in less optimal team setup even (Sharla being the biggest guilty one on being a bane for team setup most of the times). And if the story isn't giving you a whole lot of reasons to care about them, other than their archetype personality, why bother with them. And the best items to boost affinity between characters the most, is locked behind very late game, or Super Boss items. See the problem? And even if you were to meet them, there's things they do and say, that's different than how they are during the story at times. Such as Riki, who's a great dad, and amazing looking out for and taking care of things or whatever. But in the team, he does none of these great things, like, at all. A disconnect of sorts, between the heart to hearts, and the story. These are the things that kind of hold the game down, from being considered better than the later ones.

Btw, not sure how well you know about Xenosaga but the name Dimitri Yuriev is a character from Xenosaga and one of the antagonist from that series. In fact, if you check the copyright note when getting this DLC, you will see that Xenosaga is listed there. I find it cool that they connected the two series. EDIT: When Rex meant "those two" and "them", he meant Pneuma and Logos. I am not sure if you saw it but Pneuma core was in Matthew's glove and it is hinted that Logos' core cystal is in N's sword. Oroboros is literally the power of Logos and Pneuma combine.

The "Them" Rex keeps referring to are Logos and Pneuma's (tho Pneuma can interchanged with Pyra and Mythra at times) as Pneuma's true core is in Matthew's Fists and Logos is in N's sword/sheath. This to me means that Logos is still somewhat alive and the possibility of Rex finally getting his chance to punch his face and get a drink with. Wheather Logos/Malos remembers or not I believe he'll still panic seeing Rex hitting both his sisters and the woman who healed him to having cancer

Zanza: Behold, the true form of a United World! 1: I am Monado. I was here at the beginning, and I will proclaim the end. 2: We are the Aegis. I recorded the past, and we will live in the present. 3: I am Origin. I was there at the end, and I will pave a new beg- *glub* I'm surprised that Nico didn't initially comment on the Philadelphia-Class ships from Xenogears. Na'el: praises a World without strife. Radio: announces the horrors of this World while justifying Klaus' actions as a lesser evil. The farewells hit harder when you remember that Interlinking transfers memories- Nikol and Glimmer just discovered their family connections. Rex: If it was "them", they wouldn't even bat an eyelid at helpin'. It's nice that he still believes in Malos.

This DLC was truly an experience! Having played the base game and knowing what I did about the games before (I've played them all aside from X, but never did beat any game aside from 3 and Future Redeemed), this felt like such s spectacular sendoff to the Klaus Saga!

Not 'another you" actually. N literally is the one that took down Z at the end of xenoblade 3. Remember when Z "lost it" and became crazy, and the only ones who could destroy it were N and M because they were fellow moebius? "Your thought could never reach a desire... But us, who are made of the same desire..." Without N at this point, everything would just have ended up resetting again.Since Z was free to destroy everything and nothing could stop him, quite literally, except for N and M. So, the one that ended up destoying Z in the main game was N, not Noah. Just as Matthew predicted. It's a nice call-forward, as it is called.

So that radio has been making fans lose their minds for several weeks now. Contained with mostly x and saga references, but also a gears one too with the "philadelphia class motherships" being from gears. the ship in the intro of that game is said to be one. I also think it's kinda funny you joked about malos not being in this game because well. he proooobably was. rex says "if those two were here i dont think they'd bat an eye about helping" then it pans to N's VERY PURPLE sword, and to matthew's glove which we just saw has a green ass pneuma core crystal inside. Why are they there? the most likely reason is that it's a trinity processor thing, logos in the sword of the end which represents melia's "key" to origin and pneuma being tied to unlocking ouroboros, nia's "key". it's also the power old man used ghondor before he died. I've also seen it proposed that it didn't just split A from Alpha, but might also be the reason Noah and Mio (with M appearing shortly afterward) exist at all, with why they reincarnated when their past selves were alive being a bit of an ??? remember that pneuma's core also has the data for logos' core crystal, that's why he was going after her in 2 to repair his core so it's totally possible for them to potentially recreate him. Also you might not have caught it but the ending of matthew saying goodbye pretty much confirms riku is the seventh founder. they even replaced his statue with an ouroboros stone, which he worked on. he likely didnt want a statue bc even then he was planning to go and infiltrate keves and wanted the fact he's, you know, immortal to not come up. mans gotta lay low. also, the end has several references to the end of 1. the shot on A's eye is a shot that Alvis had along with the line "i can see it, clear as day", and both where alpha die and the light shulk rex and a walk into resembles the white void alvis stands in at the end of 1 when he says that same line. i will say that although alpha has the appearance and voice of alvis and im very glad he did bc i did want to see and hear him again, i generally interpret A as moreso being more alvis, being the conscious and memory side of it all. a lot of their manneurisms are the same as alvis' (for one they share a little aha! movement with their hand A sometimes does at rest spots), plus the way they talk with shulk implies familiarity as well as their unity combo lines ("we won't need words, will we A!" "It feels like coming home...") and legit he even calls them alvis at the end so. i do also lean towards this interpretation bc the alternative is that alvis just doesn't exist anymore and "died" (or ceased to be bc of ontos' programming) offscreen, or that he became a ruthless machine then died. A carries on a lot of that thematic weight and hope for the future alvis carried, and so I really like viewing that as a logical conclusion to his character, by becoming part of a trio once more to prop up the world.

Since you asked, yes that level 90 super boss was putting down a field of effect damage zone as well. It is just alot bigger compared to the one put down by the final super boss.
