...in this amazing video, there are six, not five - situations when to stay silent! ...and I added a seventh. 1 - When your judgment is clouded 2 - When your words will be hurtful 3 - When your opinion doesn't matter 4 - When you don't have enough evidence 5 - When asked not to speak 6 - When you don't have anything to say ...and I will add a seventh - 7: When your action will speak louder than your voice!

Hey there. I listened to your comments and I can relate to them . I did make a major decision to retire when I was in a very positive space in one way but personally in a heart wrenching one. My husband of 42wonderful years was critically ill and needed me as never before in this way. The POWER of that LOVE really made the design It took me by my hand and showed me the way.Nothing else at that time mattered. I felt POWERFUL in knowing. He passed shortly after ,now 8 years later and NO regrets. Thank you for sharing. We truly are never alone in this challenging existence. Amaste❤❤

I wish my sister had heeded them when she was told many years ago. She always has the wrong end of the stick, wants to be the cheese, never believes what she is told if she can turn it around to fit her belief system, and uses these methods to deliberately hurt and control ppl. She has caused a lot of harm and lost all her friends bc of her ways. She also refuses to take seriously the order to stay out of ppls lives and business and so will continue to cause trouble no matter how fiercely she is admonished for her behaviors. She has been like this all her life.

I work in an environment where ppl engage in lots of small talk. And conversations that are very surface to me. I’m a person of depth. And I remain silent because those conversations don’t always amaze me. Or educate me. Often I’m told I’m funny acting or bi polar. But it’s mainly because of those reasons I don’t engage. Just sit back and observe.

I actually really like the advice in this video (even if it might not be from Einstein.) Talking about your problems openly and finances and I would include expenses and purchases as well prove harmful for you. The more people know about you the more they can use against you. Tell only people close to you. The reality is that most people are either selfish or badly motivated. People say talking about their problems is healthy but in reality I believe it makes you weaker and more fragile.

I can understand number 3. People will often ask for your opinion on certain things, but then when you give them your opinion, they always shoot it down. Well, then why ask for someone's opinion? This has happened to me several times, so I just stay silent and do not say anything. But,... they are more pissed because you don't have nothing to say, only to get turned down, so what do you do ? Stay silent. And if they want to get rid of you, then so be it.

I have people like these individuals in my life too. These people only want you to agree with what they say so they can validate their opinion or, when things don't go the way they want, they can blame you for it because you agreed with them. Someone can ask for your opinion that doesn't mean they are going to abide by it. You never know where inspiration will come from. It is usually good to get input from several ppl, all of whom are likely to have different opinions. Nobody should be offended by this. You might dismiss someone's opinion bc you've already tried that idea and it didn't work, or the idea might not be one you could pull off successfully. It is not good to stay silent if you do have an opinion bc it might help your friend. What is very wrong to do is argue for your opinion or be disparaging of someone bc they choose not to use your idea. If the problem is at work you may be familiar w it, but if it is personal, you very likely don't have all the facts so it is poor judgment to insist that your opinion is correct and a waste of time to argue for it.

I to have in countered such people if you know from previous experience, simply say do you really want my opinion or are you going to put me down as usual, I know this will be difficult because basically your being bullied by them and they enjoy it. Good luck it will take guts but do it for yourself if you can/dare.

@Paul Frost I think that some people can sense in you when you have positive power in the mind, and they know that when you speak, the words you say can affect some people in a good direction, or simply your words or opinions are far more better than those who always think that their way is better and they need to have the last word, or opinion no matter what the conversation is about. So, I figured to stay silent, and let those who always want to run their mouths all the time, eventually tell on themselves and ultimately,.. make themselves look stupid. 😁

Wise advice. We do have to guard our tongue sometimes. Some don't , however. My dad used to say, "Do they pay your rent?" when we were bothered by some dumb gossip or inappropriate comment. Lol I always remembered that because he was a wise and confident free thinker. 😊 Little kids can also be wise at times when being hassled by others kids. My favorite one was , "You're not the boss of me!" 😳 😊

I remember yrs. ago the company I worked for had a highly paid consultant participate in a sales meeting. The day worn on and time was now short so the VP in the meeting asked that he to cover the last pt. in his book which he felt was important to us. The consultant got agitated and stated he does not do shortcuts. I would have insisted he procced as requested, he is being paid for our needs..... but not this VP. He said nothing and just allowed the guy to follow his own format. Afterward, I asked the VP "How come you did not insist that he cover what was requested? You just remained silent." His reply to me was: "Oh, I did not remain silent. I simply told him the other three scheduled sessions were no longer needed." He said nothing in front of the sales group. He did not have to prove he was the boss. This was evidence.
