I have exactly that problem with my solo trip to Norway last year. It rained constantly and I didn't have an umbrella for my cameras so I almost have no external shot of me. Next time I will have that one too.

Great job!! It looks like you love nature, and I'm wondering if you know your carbon footprint and its impact on nature. I've been shooting since age 11 (1970), and for decades, I've regulated my carbon footprint because I believe in climate change so I reduce my damage to the nature I love. This means I live in a small place, drive a Prius Prime to include taking out into nature versus a 20 MPG Jeep that's ruining nature, use LED lights versus burning wood, etc. Just an observation because I'm a baby boomer that wants your generation to enjoy what I've enjoyed.

Why not get a laser head for your tripod. So it follows you around when you move. One way

I'm not sure about this. Whenever I see shots like this in a vlog, it feels really inauthentic. Let's say that in the video, the subject is walking nonchalantly from point A to point B at 20 meters distance from the camera. In my head, I am imagining they ran to position the camera, then ran 20 meters to point A, then pretended to be nonchalant until they reached point B, ran 20 meters again to get the camera, and then ran off to get their next scene before the sun goes down. When I know that the actor is also the cameraman and producer, anything with the 4th wall in place feels way off.
