i have this phone. and its amazing! went swimming in the ocean with it, found a cave, and took some cool photos. took a video underwater. i also love the reactions from freaked out tourists when i drop it in a pool, or go swimming with it. i got the extended advance warranty that covers water damage, so i dont really care if it gets wet.

Just because the screen works it doesn't mean it's ok. You should check the connection points, if it charges correctly, if the speakers work and stuff like that. What is the point in subjecting it to such tortures and then not test if everything works?

It is awesome but to fully unleash it: 1-Remove the antishatter films on the glass from both the front and the back (they scratch too easy while the glass is much more scratch-resistant). 2-Install Deep Sleep Battery Saver application from Google Play 3-Root your phone 4-Install the PureXAudio SoundMod by ZeroInfinity for an amazing audio experience in both calls and music play.

I don't know if I should believe this - my Z got water damaged simply because I held it under running water in the sink for 5 seconds to cool the phone down ( and yes - the flaps were closed )

Using buttons in water shouldn't be a problem. It's using a membrane seal for the buttons, rather than an o-ring shaft. Pressing them wont allow water in.

Due to the viscosity of Chocolate, I think almost any phone would pass that test (except for the washing part). Also, 125F is not that hot, phone internals reach that regularly. Still an awesome phone though!

125-135 F is harmless to phones. I know someone who overclocked their phone to the point that the processor got to 130 C. Yes, that is in fact 266 F, without the phone being rendered unusable. It did shutdown however, and it almost certainly shortened the lifespan of the device. My old laptop routinely got to above 80 C and occasionally as high as the low 90s due to an incompetently designed cooling system, courtesy HP, and the only damage was battery wear and a heat-warped panel.

Many people here ask why they need a waterproof phone. well, I have this phone and I use it in the shower and swimming pool. I can take pictures and shoot video underwater at the water park and at the beach. You can use it in the snow also. This phone opens up new environment to shoot videos and photos where it is impossible with other phones without a bulky water protective case or a bag which would just cover the lens and prevent you from accessing onscreen menus

Sony. Makes a device that is dust and water resistant and is advertised to be durable, yet they made the back out of glass and used a plastic "shock proof coating" that scratches easier than cardboard.

I just got rid of my gimmicky galaxy S4 for the xperia Z and i couldn't be more happier with my decision. Everything but the screen color reproduction on this phone is better than the galaxy S4. The xperia z tops the GS4 in every real world comparison tests I did on both devices except the battery life was a little better on the gs4, but one of my main gripes was launching the dial pad on the gs4 which took on average about 2.5 to 4 seconds to pop up which is a big no no for a super phone.

I just got this phone.. It's got a pretty cool camera 13000 Megapixel, 1080p screen, is a pretty cool phone, people seem to like this phone more then my iPhone 5, The downside is battery drains kinda fast, and i can't change to another battery, That's what so sucks about it.

Dunno why I watch these videos..but the thing that was actually cool here, was that the Sony X Z still had power in its battery after it was in the freezer... Batteries usally loose their power in cold temperature.

False, I have used my Xperia Z in the shower for a couple of times now with both music and recieving calls, the only thing that happen is that the water is getting in the way for the sound to get out, it is completely impossible that i will loose the audibility. The sound is just temporary lower. Also the buttons that i have been using underwater for example has not caused any damages to the phone

Removing the antishatter films will remove the Sony logo on the front but not the Xperia logo on the back.

Just put the phone in a zip lock bag full of rice with all the ports open to get the moisture out. Close the zip lock bag and let the phone sit in there for about 2 days. Let me know if that helps!

Sony z and z1 are waterproof. But they cant get dip into salt water and water containing anythng related to soap. So it works in swiming pool but n0t in sea water.
