I really appreciate Burnie's "I realize the situation isn't the same for everybody" -side note. It always rubs me the wrong way when people act like shitty parents don't exist.
@PHANTOMCOWGIRL7 жыл бұрын
I mean, there's many levels. There's abusive parents, which are like the worst. There's the ones that are negligent as a result of not being financially secure, which isn't much better. And then like a thousand different scenarios.

"Respect your elders." Yes, you should. But that shouldn't give your elders the ability to punch you in the face and not have anything come of it.
@yukiandkanamekuran7 жыл бұрын
WizardOf I'm not just talking about physical abuse here. I mean that's why a lot of people have trust issues with authority. It's because they weren't respected or loved all the time. I meant that... people who say that and tell others respect them and denying that people can be shitty. I ran into a person saying that "parents can be never wrong" blah blah blah like bullshit.
@PHANTOMCOWGIRL7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, That was just the first example I thought of. Just replace "Punch" with "Anything bad ever" and it's pretty much the same. Yeah, I don't really like that phrase either.You know what's better? "A *Good* parent can never be wrong, they just don't know sometimes.(Except when it comes to helping with schoolwork, then they are probably more wrong than right.)"

@astroAntagonist7 жыл бұрын
quick anecdote about addiction: My mom quit smoking when she was pregnant with me and my father helped her quit. She quit cold turkey and sometimes when she would crave them and when she would she would ask my dad to get her a pack on his way home from work and he would help her not pick up by "forgetting" to get them and by the time he would actually get home she didn't want them anymore anyway.

When I was home for winter break I read a whole book in one day (started Jan 1st while going to bed after the festivities and finished while going to bed the next night). Made a resolution to finally read LOTR, finished it about mid-summer (took forever).

The smoking thing? If you ever had to watch someone you love deteriorate (slowly fall apart physically and mentally) from cancer due to smoking then no one would ever want to smoke. But the "it will never happen to me" mindset seemed ingrained in humans is too hard for some. Stop smoking, it is just not worth it!!
@Konoshy7 жыл бұрын
Both my dad and my aunt watched their father die of cancer caused by smoking and it wasn't until MANY years later that they felt they were really ready to commit to quit smoking. Nicotine is so addictive that you have to be ready to quit for yourself and not to please others.

My opinion was that I didn't really have an opinion of him. I have seen some of his vlogs and I had an impression that he was pretty cool dude but that was as far as it went. The way he spoke and conducted himself here simply made my generally positive impression of him become more of respect for him. But in saying that I have never met him so my comment is mostly redundant any way.

I actually had to confess that I was smoking to my mum when I was 16, because I went for a cigarette break without asking at my first ever job and got fired. She was super upset at me because her father had a stroke and lung cancer due to smoking most of his life, but she accepted it as a habit I had formed and even started bringing me tobacco when I moved to the uk (where its about twice as expensive as it is in Spain, where we live). Like Burnie said, non-abusive parents tend to care more about you than your bad habits.

When speaking of the changes and how your brain will fight to do big changes and revert back they mentioned weight loss and also mentioned about cutting foods but you don't need to do change your diet you just need to change how much you exercise. I never changed my eating habits and i lost 70 almost 80 pounds, drank soda, still ate fast food, and all the junk food. I just walked 10 miles a day by i live in an area with a bunch of hills i burnt almost all my calories if not more then i consumed and that's legit all you need to do.
