We tried the Darth Vader parfait for the first time, saw the Fireworks on Batuu (spireworks), and finally did sosme Lightsaber training together. It's always more fun to theme your date nights together, and this night was full of passion for each other, but mostly.... the Darkside!

This was great, especially the lightsaber lesson. I'd love to see more of that. Here's a hint for those uncomfortable with how to grip the lightsaber to try spinning moves: Find the balance point, which will be nearer the blade than you think it will be (but it varies by your build), and put your thumb and forefinger at that point, with the rest of your hand very loosely holding the hilt. When you spin it, such as in a figure 8, you want to use just your thumb and forefinger as the hinge point with your other fingers only lightly touching it now and again for control and to give it a push to keep the rotation going. Brian is showing that at 22:15 in the video. Holding it at the center of gravity will enable you to spin it much faster and with better control. You might also try swapping the top and bottom sections to see if the grip and balance feel better. This motion is very similar to how you would use a bo staff from martial arts. I have studied both martial arts and the force and have found that the principal of Chi in martial arts is related to the Force and a gateway for learning its ways. Be one with your lightsaber and it will feel like part of you, just as we are all connected to each other by the force. May it be with you.

everything you said is true! Unfortunately the Savi sabers just don't feel like there is a good balance point lol just so heavy in the hilt. but we will have to try again. thanks for sharing Jeff!

@@AlwaysBelieve It depends on which set you have. In the video you shared of the one you first built there from the Jedi pieces you used the same exact pieces I used and it balances quite nicely on the grove right up by the hilt. You can wrap your thumb and finger around it there and it spins quite well. If you swap the piece with the black vertical stripes up to the top then that gives a nice grip for the fingers. I have that piece on top and it works better. I can spin it as well as the legacy one my SIL owns. I built a second one with the other pieces from that same set and its balance point is lower--down in the middle of the top piece. That is more difficult to control. I can do it since I'm used to spinning a heavier bo staff, but for a beginner it is more awkward. All I can suggest for someone wanting to learn to maneuver a Savi-built one is to try swapping the pieces to see which has the more comfortable grip/balance point. Some pieces are heavier than the others so it will make a difference. Always keep your grip near that balance point and it will be easier to control. You need a LOOSE grip, not a tight one. You pretty much hold/spin it with just your thumb and forefinger. The other fingers are used to push it along and to make small adjustments to keep it spinning straight. Think of making the "OK" sign 👌and that's the right position. It is TONS of fun to play around with it--especially when it is dark and the blade makes a visual arc as it rotates. Defiantly love to see more dark side and First Order/Empire bounds, they honestly seem very rare. Probably owing to a few factors, namely the no military clothing making it iffy in pulling off a First Order look, and so causing people to gravitate toward the resistance since their look is a LOT more freeform and easier to put together since it's not as formal or strict by nature.

So actually I had fixed the ignition switch panel that you have (I have the same one) by unscrewing the plastic slider and adding a piece of tissue behind it to make the switch more stiff. Helps lots when you are spinning.

Having three Halloween date nights since I have to work overtime on Halloween night this year. Just finished a spooky anthology night watching the original "Creepshow," "Trick 'r Treat" and "V/H/S," today we're watching the original "Halloween" and the 2018 sequel before checking out the new "Halloween Kills." Then tomorrow we have tickets to see "Dune" on IMAX, and for that we'll be in our Star Wars costumes. ^ _ ^ Can't wait. You two are so right. Don't ever stop dating, and always make it fun together.
