Alyssa Naeher is the main reason I watch the National team and Chicago Red Stars. I love her competitiveness!

Since winning the gold against Brazil this year there have been a bunch of behind-the-scenes player interviews that have given fans like me a chance to know the players so much better. I am grateful for these interviews and I am grateful for the quality players and coaches that has been assembled for the USWNT. This year was without a doubt A DREAM COME TRUE. Thank you USWNT players and coaches for all the hard work everybody put in then and continue to put in for future club play as well as tournament play. You guys, literally, bought tears to this 67 year-old's eyes during this olympic run. Reminds me of The 1980 Miracle On Ice when the USA defeated Russia for the gold. I feel it is on that level. WE ARE BACK BABY........... RIGHT WHERE WE BELONG!

OMG I was so happy to Alyssa’s sweet face when I opened KZbin!! She is my favorite player and the reason I follow the NWSL. I’ve watched her on the national team with the other national team girls for so many years. Hoping she’s back on the pitch soon and doing big things.

Loved watching Barnhart play in club and country, wish she had more USWNT caps. So happy Alyssa gave props to her. I always wanted to hang and have a casual beer or whatever with Barnhart to hear her take on the world, Naeher gives that same vibe. Thanks for a great interview!

i’m viewing this post ‘24 olympics. Congratulations and thank you. You made two to three really big saves vs Brazil, you made big saves every game throughout the tournament; but there was one save in the semi vs Germany where your cognitive to hand/eye was like Bernie Parent (Stanley Cup winning goalie Philadelphia Flyers) A room full of beer drinking male ex jocks just exploded when you made this save, because not only the quickness of your hand/eye coordination but you had to overcome your body leaning the opposite direction. Your great, the USWNT has been such tough heroic warriors for how long? Even in ‘23 WC almost pulled it out. Thank you.

Thanks for this interview. I've not been a big Naeher fan over the years. Nothing personal, but the Solo bar for USWNT keeper is very high (just like the Abby Striker bar is very high for a 9). This is the most I've heard her speak, so it good to hear her side of the stories and her thoughts and process for the position. Also, she doesn't strike me as "crazy" the same way keepers in the men's game are stereotypically perceived.

Alyssa is right that Miracle on Ice game wasn’t the final game. They ended up beating Finland (just as difficult) to win gold. The Soviet Union team won Silver, but that is because the format wasn’t as we know now a playoffs.

Hello Sam. I cannot help but admire Alyssa as a goalkeeper and I listened to an interview she did with a channel local to her after the World Cup win. As an English listener it was really annoying that the interviewer pointed out, not the final, but just that save of the penalty. I really like how Steph Houghton, who just retired, kept playing despite her husband's illness and if anyone deserved to score the penalty and win a World Cup it was her. I also wished she would win the WSL again, but US fans will have been happy to see Emma win it with Chelsea. Steph's husband, also a footballer, teamed up with a rugby league player, Rob Burrow, to raise awareness of their illness. Rob, who I knew only through friends, died this weekend and I encourage anyone reading this to take a look at his story. There are many tributes on KZbin.
