An astounding film, Andy. Best Scottish Mountain and Black Cuillin scramble depiction I've ever seen. And as an armchair warrior I've seen them all. Thank you very much!

What an amazing video and stunning views Andy 🩵🙌. I did the walk from Sligachan last May but just up to the ridge as I had both my dogs with me. Magnificent scenery. Hope to do Bruach Na Frithe this in May. Thank you for sharing 😊🙌🥾🥾

This is very soothing and just so peaceful to watch, I come to your channel often and always find myself so moved and inspired to create. I think nowadays, the judgment of what makes a great content is very sketchy. Myself I had a KZbin channel and I did quit because I felt I could not keep up with the power that if you don't make this certain level of quality it means your stuff is rubbish. I am finally getting back and realizing that it doesn't matter. You inspire me a lot. Thank you and wishing you the best on your journey :)

I did the same route up the brown sill on the south side one Nov day, well remember the shock of the view when you reach the col . The guy messing around with the rope didn't seem too impressed with you waltzing past him...😄

Hi. Yeah, the bypass of the bad step seemed sensible as I didn't have a rope with me, and wasn't sure about down climbing it. No problem to nip over it on the way back though. Thanks for watching.

Absolutely sublime mate!,,, one of the best I have seen! Was saving it for a quiet big telly night and it didn't disappoint! I will contacting you next year for a guided tour! Brilliant mate. Are these your first ascents Andy or have you done them before? Route finding looks difficult? Paul

Hi Paul. Glad you enjoyed it, it was a fun day. Iv'e done Bruach na Frithe before but this was my first time on Am Basteir. Route finding can be tricky in the Cuillins, especially in the clag as it all begins to look the same, and it's easy to miss a turn. I had great weather though so decided to scout out the bad step bypass. There's a good wee book that I've been reading with various routes in it to help prepare, Skye's Cuillin Ridge Traverse by Adrian Trendall.

Excellent Andy.Is that the start of the bypass path for the bad step @5.25??Would you reckon it's lot safer the decending the bad step?I have Am Basteir and Sgurr Alasdair still to do on Skye.Bruach na Frithe was my 1st but never got a day with awesome views like that.😃🌞👍
@andy-astro

Hi Andy. Yeah that's the start of the bypass, just aim for that line of brown rock then head up, after about 20-30 meters there is another place you can drop down to the left and skirt the main bulk up to the bad step and rejoin the ridge. Here's a pic of the other place you drop down postimg.cc/hJWThs81. If you don't take a rope then I would recommend taking the bypass, at least on your way up, to avoid the down climb on the bad step. Cheers.
