I went up in 97 with a experienced walker , on my way down I thought I could hear something walking behind me , I stopped looked around and got the most creepy feeling I’ve ever had , my friend was a bit ahead of me and I just got a panic attack and started shouting wait for me and as I started picking up my pace , I could hear something walking behind me it spooked me big time , but didn’t mention it to him as I just didn’t want to look stupid but once I heard the story of Ben Macdui being haunted it really did send a chill down my spine

If I may put a spin on that - I had a similar experience of somebody/something intensely **right behind me** 15 or 20 years ago, in my very wooded back yard where I lived at the time. I was afraid to look behind me (because, or even though we have some dangerous wildlife there) and I skedaddled up the stairs to the back door and shot into the house. Then the feeling left me . I've had some strange experiences in my time, and I always felt that that was sinister. However, with the passage of time I wonder if it was something "pushing me" to get into the house (that is to say, protecting me) because there was in fact something dangerous about to happen. 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️

Croaking noise is unquestionably black grouse (or rarer capercaillie). Ground dwelling dark coloured bird that lives in the heather and vegetation. The imitation is spot on! Does sound very odd - especially up on a lonely hill! But nothing supernatural.

Yeah I know the sound of a Ptarmigan, it was loader and deeper, plus my dog has an intense prey drive she would have definitely chased any animal, possibly a logical explanation but thought it was worth mentioning.

Some ground dwelling birds have odd calls. I’ve experienced, under similar foggy weather in the highlands, birds that when startled would take flight with a near growl. No clue which species.

Hi love the channel and it would be great if you could put these videos onto a podcast, with reference to this story I have heard it a number of times and it is very creepy but I wonder if other factors could be causing this, could topography of the mountain and the winds generated be causing infrasound this has been proven to cause feeling of fear and dread and even visual hallucinations and could the broken spectre also account for some of this, just an idea but as with all great mysteries I hope It remains a mystery for all of time
