New on the chap journey but I wore my sport coat and tie out for errands for the first time. Got a lot of compliments. Talk about a confidence boost.

Very smart, Greg. Terrific shoes and that suit fits a treat. You are definitely a chap! As the suit and shirt are plain, I think this outfit would also look good with a Burgundy based club striped tie and a paisley pocket square with Burgundy and blue notes in the pattern. This would compliment the rich tones of the shoes and belt. Well done, Sir!

Allen Edmonds factory seconds are usually a good deal.

Greg looks great. Also, you’re such a nice and encouraging man. Nice job, sir. My two cents - I agree with the pocket square…nothing wrong at all with the blue hanky, however , I would’ve gone with white with a contrast edge…or a bold silk pocket square. Lastly, I’d never wear black shoes with a light grey suit, unless it was a Glen plaid. Just my preference. A brown suede- any tone would look great. Or, a chestnut or cognac would also look nice. Nonetheless, he looks great.

I have bought my first two pairs of Allen Edmonds last week. A pair of Drakes in black and a pair of Carlyles in Walnut brown. They are seconds and I got another 25% off at the factory store. They feel so good on my feet. I wish I had done it much earlier in life.

Great choices sir. Bravo!!

Greg matches the metals of his wristwatch and belt buckle.😀 Nice presentable outfit, however, personally, I prefer a slightly longer coat and trousers with a fuller, more classic fit. I also enjoyed the sky blue Winchester shirt with double cuffs and very nice neck tie, but I tend to like more traditional Budd or T & A collars, with a four-in-hand knot rather than cutaway collars and Windsor (neither full nor half) knot. But all in all: well done! Congrats on the 30.5K

Another one, hooray!😉 First though: The autumnal background is glorious! So on with Greg! (on a sidenote about dressing well in the modern age: "You look so snappy - Off to some event?" "...Aldi..." - Me, too offen to count...) I'd say no, no loss a formality by the dark brown shoes, maybe they would cause this in a colder, darker grey suit, not one in a light grey (looking down at myself... burgundy demi-brogue double monkstraps, light grey double breasted suite - Check, yes, would work just as well with a slightly "browner" shoe). And a loverly shoe it is Greg! Beautifully burnished tips! And the slight reddisch tone immediately broadens the shoe's range, so to say - would work just as well with quiet the range of suits. And light blue as well as the tie's navy, really all blues, works exceedingly well with a light grey *as well as any browns* which means all the chief colours of this ensemble are in complementary harmony! Look absolutely beautiful. So in confusion: I'll Just echoe Mr. Jones: it's magnificent! Amd I really like light grey, greys in General, they are way more versatile than "Momo and the Grey Gentlemen" suggest😉 So thank you for the feature, it always betters my mornings and thank you Greg for the Inspiration! Best regards Raoul G. Kunz

Allen Edmonds Carlisle's are very classy looking shoes. I have been looking at them myself but I am leaning more towards a pair of McAlister's which are full brogue. For anyone in the US interested Allen Edmonds is having a sale right now and there are some really good deals. I currently own 10 pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes and two pairs of their boots. They are a good value. Cheers Ron

Ash, what is your pin, and are those brass buttons on the blazer? Regards, Starrlight
@TheChapsGuide Жыл бұрын
Sadly not solid bread, but the buttons came with the blazer. This is the pin: www.stpaulsshop.org.uk/p/3850/OBE-Emblem-lapel-pin

Lessen the formality…….Absolutely not! The chap only increased his aura of sartorial modernity…. EXPONENTIALLY BTW (IMHO).

Call me traditional, but a two piece suit doesn't have much formality to begin with

Nice shoes, but not with that suit. Blue tie, blue shirt rather dull. Neat but not noteworthy. Suit fits well, though.

The outfit in deed would be perfect if not the terrible slim fit style of the trousers. Looks awfool. I personally also do not approve on the modern artificial darkening of shoe caps, but this is negotiable. Slim fit trousers are not!

I am an avid fan of your channel, Ash. That navy blazer looks fantastic on you. Would you mind telling me what make it is and where you got it from?

It’s by Jaeger, which sadly ceased trading a few years ago

@@TheChapsGuide Thanks awfully for your swift reply. Not actually what I wanted to hear. So many so-called "Navy" blazers are virtually indistinguishable from black. Brook Taverner have many examples of exactly that. I shall find that blazer that I want and that meets my specifications.
