@@lazyhomebody1356 I learned to crochet by watching KZbin videos, there are some great tutorials here! Trust me, if I can do it ANYONE can do it lmfao. Keep trying and you will master it! It's such a rewarding hobby and you can get super creative with it. So many different stitches and techniques, and it's so relaxing.

I do both... I just wish I could do them both, at the same time. I also knit but that's besides the point. I think having hobby dates is great! I often knit or crochet while bestie sits and draws or SiL works on her tiny dolls or my mom stitches. And bravo for trying something new! It's not always easy to break out of your comfort zone. I wouldn't write it off entirely if it is something you do actively want to pursue. As with any artistic endeavor, there is a level of "this is new and I'm frustrated" that has to be worked through, but if its really something you're a keen bean about, you're capable. You're already a problem solver by being a puzzler and that's half the skill set involved in any artistic endeavor.

I like both, but I crochet more, than I do puzzles. I usually do more than a thing at the same time, for an example, I'm crocheting a blanket, a doll and a TBH creature and I'm working on a 1000 piece puzzle, but I've been avoiding it these past days.

@@nom3nnescio a lot of these puzzles she has bought herself, like the vintage and rare ones.
@Chaotic_Pixie
@Chaotic_Pixie Жыл бұрын
@@nom3nnescio some companies do send her some of their collection, but not all those modern puzzles were PR, not by a long shot. And all those vintage ones, the ones she's preserving and doing research on and cataloging the history of... that's a labor of love. Belittling someone else's labor in this world because you're jealous... and yes, that's what your comment is... is so rude. Good for her that brands have taken notice of her passion and love of the hobby and its history and want to help support her in that. When a brand sends her puzzles to create content with, that's $$ she can put towards preserving the history of antique puzzles. It's a win, all the way around. And a lot of those indie brands didn't send her those puzzles, she bought them herself.

@@nom3nnescio is your argument here that if you get something for free, it’s not eligible to be in a collection? In that case, I don’t agree. You could absolutely have a collection that consists of gifts.
@vargsvansify
@vargsvansify Жыл бұрын
@@nom3nnescio ah, so you’ve added the word “Active” now. Then you agree that it is indeed a collection and now argue that Karen is not actively collecting puzzles since she gets puzzles sent to her. That’s shifting the goal posts a bit. I would still claim that Karen is very active in her collecting, since she does lots of auctions and puzzle swaps. You do come across as a bit jealous that she gets free stuff, but that might just be a coincidence. Is it important to you whether Karen has an active collection or not? Can’t really see what you have to gain here.

So, a lot of booktubers have TBRs... or To Be Read. I think you need a TBP... or To Be Puzzled. You can get some good content out of discussing your TBP including "My patreon members pick my puzzle" or "Randomly drawing a number to decide which Ravensburger puzzle I do next"... I know you love your well-researched content and we love you for all that hard work you do. It's mind-blowing and amazing, but also, you can have "fluffier" content. It's okay. We love it all! I'm also SO HERE for some videos on lower piece count puzzles... especially if you got some more recommendations for quality kids puzzles, especially edutainment ones. I got almost 4 and almost 7yo nieces who are really getting into table top brain activities. Also, there's a distinct difference between someone who collects and honors their collections and someone who just accumulates... someone who treats them with respect and carefully curates what's in their collection and someone who is a hoarder. You demonstrate zero hoarding tendencies and I need you to know that. You routinely re-evaluate your collection and donate/swap/sell what is no longer serving your needs. You don't keep every puzzle ever sent to you and you don't accept every offer of ever puzzle you receive. You're a curator, not a hoarder. You're a preservationist too. We should all strive to be so good about our passions. You're an inspiration, not a cautionary tale.

This was so much fun to watch! It is much easier for me to organize my pizzles. I have two shelves of "To Do" puzzles. Most are gifts, and others are self-purchased. Completed puzzles are ushered out the door the day after I complete them. I take them to my school to be rehomed by another teacher. Admittedly I do have about 8 puzzles I keep, but that is about it.

Is there one particular puzzle you could never part with? I had a childhood puzzle (that was missing 1/4 of the pieces!) but that was my favorite since the 60s. I parted with it in the mid 90s and regretted doing so. I found the exact puzzle on ebay and hubby bought it for me for Christmas ‘22. It had EVERY SINGLE PIECE! Wow. I can’t believe the joy it brings to me. The puzzle shapes, the picture, the box…oh my! I will cherish my special puzzle for the rest of my life. ❤🧩❤

First, congratulations on the new Karen puzzle puzzle! How exciting! Thanks also for such an inspiring tour. I hope it’s all insured, you really have curated your own museum! I look forward to your videos about all these puzzles you’d mentioned! Secondly I’m famously not “organized,” so forgive me for making a couple suggestions here. 1. You’re smart to shield those vintage puzzles from the light and to protect their weight on each other. Best would be to use a form of acid-free support between your vintage puzzles instead of regular cardboard. 2. Please think of ways to protect your openly shelved puzzles and your puzzle stacks from earthquakes. Having personally seen the damage from different Southern California earthquakes, quakes do tend to send shelves crashing to the floor or send everything flying from shelves. We all want your amazing collection to continue bringing joy to everyone! Thanks again for sharing your joy with all of us.

That Carnovsky puzzle on your to-do shelf reminded me of when I first started to watch your channel - it must have been one of the earlier videos I watched. I thought the idea behind those puzzles was so cool and serendipitously, I later found all three puzzles on sale as an ALDI special buy, bought them, and had a fantastic time doing them. I "organise" my puzzles by cramming as many as I can onto the remaining shelves of my wardrobe that are not currently being used for clothes. I have mainly Ravensburger, Pomegranate, and Cloudberries, which annoyingly all come in slightly different shaped and sized boxes. Other than the blue dust, my main Ravensburger gripe is therefore that their 1000 piece boxes are unnecessarily bulky to store - the 2x1000 puzzles they sometimes produce come in the same sized box! By the way, for anyone considering buying those, be aware that they don't come with any way to separate the pieces after you've completed them, which is a new and inventive kind of sadistic torment, in my opinion. I had to cannibalise some of my older Pomegranate puzzles for their resealable bags.

Normally after I've worked a puzzle maybe twice, I'm usually over it, then it's off to donation. I don't have that kind of space so a puzzle would really have to have very special meaning for me to hold on to it. The older I get, the less I want to have to deal with. But, I must say, you've done an excellent job keeping your collection organized. You won't run out of video content any time soon😀

I have only one cabinet to keep my puzzles organized, so I have to choose wisely when buying puzzles. I usually make mine several times. Excited to see the "little sister" puzzle. I'm currently making the "big sister" and having fun doing it.

This is absolutely the wrong channel for me to stumble across this evening. I'm supposed to be packing for a trip, but I'm here all gaga over your stash. And now I'm thinking about coming home and diving into my own (much, much more humble) collection. Shame on me - but you've got a new sub!

You are so ORGANIZED!! ;-) I have my 300 puzzles in clear plastic totes stacked in my basement. I mean to take them all out and organize by brand, but keep my holiday ones together. I have at least two totes of Christmas puzzles!! Keep on puzzlin'!!

I’ve been growing my collection quickly this year, and so far we have a tiny shelf in a cabinet we keep video games and some extra consoles in, and I’m glad I organized that shelf better because the big drawer I kept unfinished puzzles in our built in is finally EMPTY, so time to shop for new ones soon!

I organize my puzzles mainly by piece count first. Then brand and then title. Except I do have separate shelves for Christmas, Halloween, Mystery and Logic puzzles. Generally when I pull out a puzzle I have a sense if I want to tackle 500, 1000, mini snack or giant - that is why I sorted that way. I did a little tour back in September on Instagram that is saved as a reel. It was while recording that when I truly appreciated how much my collecting had expanded 😂

Thanks for showing us all your puzzles! I've done the anatomy one and that was fun! I did them all separately, but it seems like something that you would mix all together to do all at once. Also, congratulations on your second puzzle!! It looks really neat and I really wanna get it! I haven't gotten your 3000 piece one since it's too big but I'll definitely get this one! I don't really keep my puzzles that organized. I have a few stacks of ones I haven't done, and a stack of ones that I want to keep, and then stacks of ones I've done and will be giving away (for the most part, I give away my puzzles when I'm done with them). Everything's just kept on the floor - I should get some shelving in that room 😅

Hi Karen, I found the Puzzle Warehouse and bought several puzzles. I find I cope with 500 piece puzzles better than larger ones. My treat puzzle this go round is the Yin Yang Bear by Paul Heussenstamm. It is from Pomegranate Artpiece Puzzles. Have you ever seen this puzzle? The pieces are thick and the colors are absolutely lovely. It took me several days on and off to complete. This was a puzzle that had to be done from the center on out. The end result is a square puzzle, well worth the challenge. It was easily the most difficult puzzle I've ever attempted. I love watching you work. I love your library. Some people have books - I know, I have thousands - and some have puzzles. I am starting to have a lot of puzzles as well as books.

Karen, It's possible that someone may be scamming you. I really wonder if you would be giving away such things as PlayStations. I wish KZbin had a messaging thing. I once had my identity stolen and that's not going to happen again if I can avoid it.

Loved to see your collection! Congrats! Your happiness with puzzles express exactly what I feel with mine 😂😂😂! I had a big collection, but needed to save only those I like most... so it is still big, but now it can be organized with only those I want to assemble again in future. Love your videos. Best wishes from Brazil 😘

The smiley face impossible puzzle you haven't done yet is hard. I "raged quit" on it multiple times before sticking to it and "solving it". When I put in the last piece I realized that half the puzzle was wrong and needed to be turned over. I did not do that. Only puzzle I attempted and never fully solved. I hope you make a video when you do that puzzle

I only have 15 jigsaws, five of which is framed, and the remaining 10 is being stored in the under bed storage. If I had more room I would definitely become a jigsaw hoarder too! Love from the UK 💜

I am very envious of how organised your collection is 😃 At the moment mine are only sorted by 3 categories - keep, not sure and donate. (That is until I can convince my partner I need some of the space he uses for all his music related collections! ) You have really inspired me to try different puzzles, most of which I get second hand, and I now have more than I imagined I ever would.
