I wouldn't call it a failing Chris. We all have differing approaches, and thank heavens we do otherwise we'd all be churning out the same stuff. Also, I don't think there is anything wrong with having an image in mind and then relaxing once that frame has been done justice. I'm completely the opposite and will go somewhere with no preconceptions and just create images that encapsulate my reaction. I also dot about all over the place too and rarely stay in the same spot for long, especially at sunrise when the light is changing so quick. Do what suits you Chris. Don't be swayed just because others challenge or are critical of your approach. All the best buddy.

So here is an interesting question Huw. Is it an 'amateur' mindset to be content with one image? Wouldn't a professional make the most of their time on location? My concern is that I sometimes still think like an amateur out for a nice morning with my camera. That is a genuine question that I don't know the answer to.
@huwalban3 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisSalePhoto No. In fact I wouldn't even label it. We all have different approaches. Mine is a bit loose and reactive, and yours more planned and deliberate. I met a chap once that did coastal work, and he planned everything - tide height, sun direction, weather - and he would not return to that composition until all those elements came together. He created some lovely images, but the approach would bore me to tears. If we were to label anything, it would be that the professional is there to create an image (or images) to serve a specific purpose that contributes to their income or profile. An amateur is there more for personal gratification. A bit of a blunt definition I accept but hopefully you get the point.
