Many many many moons ago my brother suspended his turntable from the ceiling in his living room (4 ft from the floor ) as the house was tiny, it seemed to be the best solution at the time - worked like a charm.

5:13 this is so important because I just went to a record show near me and I wrote in my notes of a few titles I wanted and some other stuff and I found what I wanted. And I didn't even break the bank with impulsive purchases.

I found a Technics turntable at a yard sale for 10 bucks. It was filthy, but it worked. I gave it to my buddy who wanted to get into vinyl. Cleaned it up and it sounded better than I expected. Audio Technica 95E cartridge in the turntable was a surprise. A week later, he found a box of 42 LPs for 10 bucks, all VG+ condition, at a yard sale. Including MFSL pressings of Dark Side & Sgt Pepper. He's having a blast.

I bought my first turntable in 1975 from my good friend. It was a fully manual AR and was given to him by a man that owned a local independent radio station. Recently I donated my last turntable to a local charity store. I haven't listened to vinyl in decades even though I think it's cool.

HNY 🎉 The trick with “getting into vinyl “..is unless you’ve got a collection of records or access to a large collection (a friend or relative) the cost of good software is the key . You don’t need to spend a lot on the hardware..but if you can keep it fed with good to great pressings ..it’ll shine ✨ Having said that …a great tt and arm will give a “cheaper cartridge “ a great opportunity to perform surprisingly well. Anyway, that’s my 2 cents. Have a great evening

Hey Bob, you can use one of those fancy Apps on your phone as a level too! Another thing to talk about, accessories! I like that record weight you have on your table. Lets hear about it. Also what's the best method and, or products for cleaning our records? Can you briefly talk about setting up the tone arm? There's the angle and also the counterweight. I got a new belt for my JVC (from 1976) and need to relearn a bunch of things. Thanks! PS: nice bar setup.

I switched to buying vinyl around 12 years ago, I found that my love for the CD format was getting stale. Upgraded my turntable a few times but the biggest change came with new needles and a good phono stage. I still enjoy CDs but there's nothing like a great recording on vinyl.

Hello, I think your videos are honest and we can learn something from them. I had a Turntable as a child and kept all my vinyl records from back then. When my 13 year old son found them in the basement he wanted a turntable which he got this Christmas (Argon Audio TT-3 Plus with Ortofon Red). He is passionate about this hobby. So my old passion for vinyl was rekindled and I ordered a Rega Planar 3rs with Nd5 cartridge because I like the design much better than the Technics SL-1210 that I, we had back then. Is the Rega Planar 3rs with Nd5 cartridge on par with the Technis sl1210mk7 in terms of sound and workmanship? Greetings from Germany

HEY, talk about that acrylic mat. yes, I KNOW t sounds good BUT!!! a weight is not gonna do it. a CLAMP s what you need. sota and VPI both use acrylic platters and CLAMPS. one doesn't need to bleed his bank account for this either. Michell and Pangea can help you do it right and on the cheap. yeah, I have a SOTA Reflex Clamp and it's costly but I got it long ago. i also have a 200gram Orsonic that I paid $55 for that quickly thereafter went to $90! that looks like a Thorens TD160 tt with detachable arm wands. yeah BABY.

I would recommend NOT buying duplicates or replacements with CD's, etc. Find new music. And by new music, I mean find old stuff that you never thought you'd like. Find marketplace deals where people are selling lots for little. After your first or second large quantity purchase, STOP! Actually listen too em. Be open minded. Then proceed buying however you want.

The only record store near me unfortunately lists eBay and Discogs prices on all their records. They are always cheaper but that is just a massive hard pass to me. I just prefer not to buy anything from them because of that. Huge no no.

Get used to looking at used, sometimes an LP will look like crap on the outside, but you will be surprised how new the actual record looks! A lot of people get LPs as gifts or whatever, maybe play once, put them back and forget them!
