I've put down 1/4 lb per 1,000sqft every 2 weeks until the end of may . I'm trying to push hard to fill in some bare areas that my winter overseed killed. It's working too .

that's a good strategy - spoon feeding! super nutty.

You say 0.5 - 0.75 but how many apps? And how often? How much total in the spring? How much in the fall?

Got my soil test back. Stated I need to throw down 16-16-16 3.75 lbs per 1,000. Only could find 10-10-10. After putting it down, it rained for 2 days. A week later I'm noticing several areas where the grass is turning white and burning out. I'm suspecting my dogs (labs) pee and the fertilizer is causing the burn circles. I live in Ohio.

If the lawn is yellow and thin KBG 6 lbs of N in fall will give great results thick and dark and fill in. 1 lb N will do nothing but make the sparse yellow grass grow faster.

How would I know if I put too much fertilizer on my lawn? How would my lawn react?

But why? Why is .5-.75 the sweet spot? What's the science/biology?
@LawnsAcrossAmerica5 жыл бұрын
University studies - about page 5 - this is for cool season lawns www.extension.purdue.edu/extmedia/AY/AY-22-W.pdf tells you 1-5lbs/1000 N yearly and to break that up over time so as not to push too much growth. .5-.75 is a good way to break that up and feed the lawn steadily. You could go higher (fewer apps, each one higher N) or you could go lower (more apps, each one lower N - also called 'spoon feeding.'" but the sweet spot is .5 -.75. This knowledge is also backed up by my 15 years of professional lawn care experience where I could see the results when we applied the lower and/or higher amounts. Hope that helps!

Rid lawn, grow food, or rocks. Lol nitrogen K P ratio still applies with food growth.
