Okay, so I used to wonder this question. I listened to this video and finally it all clicked for me. We cannot control who approaches us. We can control rather we choose to ignore or proceed with the red flags and information we receive. The longer the red flags go ignored, the more games you attract. I spent 4 months with a gentleman who had a medical condition r / t work injury which prevented him from driving due to pain medication,. He had character, morals, took excellent care of his 10 yo son as an unmarried, self- employed, disciplined African American man. We had communication, chemistry, connection, supported each other’s goals and dreams. We departed ways because he followed a Jehovah’s Witness lifestyle and I followed a non-denomination Christ-centered lifestyle. It was a most painful decision; our break up emotionally hurt both of us. Learned later that he and I both had shared our meltdowns with a mutual older male friend. Five months later, I am still progressing thru the grieving process. Did I date down? No. Valuable lessons were learned in that brief encounter.

Oh my GOSH her story is sooo my story maybe minus the car issue. Normally they have a car and a decent job but don’t act like they want to invest in dating and courting me. Like they try to seek ideas that don’t involve them spending money on me when they see we aren’t progressing into the intimacy arena. It’s crazy because like she said eventually they cut you off or just keep trying you sexually without putting any work in to pursue you for a real relationship. One guy recently told me he feels sorry for me because I seem unhappy and bitter because I didn’t entertain his sexual comments and stopped calling and texting me.
