Always a treat to hear Amelie speak! Thank you for uploading this, and YES we foreigners, besides all the humour, we take her and her litterarure very seriously! I m glad to see she s being aprociated and recognised in her own country!

Unfortunately, I feel she's more appreciated in France than in her own country. Belgians tend to hate successful Belgian people, like Justine Hénin to name one who could only be admired and praised, like Amélie. It's like as a Belgian, you have to always be modest and lay low... which is ridiculous, as in history, and in arts, Belgians were always the avant-garde, inventors, etc. Just look at the architecture and the painting! Over the years, I heard awful things about her here, most of the time from people who know nothing about her books. IMHO, her personality is too big and too anti-conformist for most of the Belgians... but all over the world, many people call her phoney or crazy while I find her geniune and a pure genious!

😉 Champagne 🍾
