You actually can just finish off Queen Metroid with missiles - 10 regulars or two Supers does the job once she goes to try and eat you. If you do it that way, she just screams and then poofs out of existence. It's kind of hilarious. I did it on v1.0, so I don't know if it changed in later versions.

Recently played this myself, v1.5. Loved it for the most part and was looking forward to doing this. But it wouldn't work, I roll into a ball inside her jaws and get stuck, can't roll or lay a Power-Bomb. Tried it 5 times and still nothing, don't know whats gone wrong.

Wow. I feel retarded. I had no idea you could kill those things with the ice beam and get health/ missile pick ups. I kept killing them with power bombs / screw attack, the result being running out of ammo at the end .

I don't know what happened, but my gravity suit makes me invisble which made the rest of the game super hard to do. lol The weird thing is that all the other suits work just fine so i often switched to varia to see myself but in a lot of the ending battle it made it hell with that damage. O_

The developer is aware of this, think they said it's something about ATI graphics cards (is that what you have?). He said he's working on improvements for the game in private. Best thing to do is probably register for their message board (if you haven't already) and be on the lookout for patches to get posted.

Unfortunately not. She never opens her mouth properly for you to get in, nor can you stun her to roll in. That final powerbomb is the only way

Queen Metroid is like Queen Bee and Queen Ant. In both swarm of bees and colony of ants there's only one queen, no king. There are drones though, but there're created only for breeding. I dunno how metroids are reproducing, but their hierarchy is inspired by both bees and ants, who like them are protecting their queen and nest.

Imo it would have been better if the queen had forced you into morth ball mode shortly after grabbing you. My first and only reaction to being grabbed when on 5 hp was to fire as many missiles as I could because I didn't really feel like getting to the boss a third time :3

I made it near the end. Just a few more hits would've done it. In my version the queen spits acid breath and is a bit harder. I died 4 times, so I think I give up now. Too difficult for me, and I'm only playing on normal. Also, I'm using a keyboard so might be a bit more difficult than a controller. Thanks for the video, but I think I give up now

I didn't realise you could freeze the green spikebreath particles for drops until I watched this video. Holy samosa, I made it through the first two stages repeatedly without healing, and conserving super missiles very carefully. I got to the fourth stage and ran out, and that's what led me to watch this, at which point the fight became a total breeze. Gotta be honest, this is probably the weakest part of the game. Enough to knock it down to an 8/10.

The artwork is beautiful and the soundtrack is great but it's nowhere near as atmospheric as Metroid Samus Returns given its lack of continuity in both instrumentation and thematic style. Given that AM2R was made almost entirely by 1 person is astounding, but it doesn't excuse the fact that the game is inferior to the official remake.

The egg was a surprise, Samus knew nothing about it... another thing is the queen battle, its way too easy because you can hit anywhere on her head and it does damage when her weakness is the belly just like every other metroid.

97 noface it's for the player and not Samus to know, it wouldn't be the first time something like that was done. And second in the original Metroid 2 the whole belly weakness didn't exist gameplay wise so it doesn't matter much. Besides that weakness is exploited via power bomb anyways.

It's very hit and miss. On one hand, he wants it to remain faithful to the original encounter. On the other, he wants to make it interesting and fresh. Doesn't help the original battle isn't too amazing either. I thought it was a valiant effort. The destruction and moving battle made it a bit more epic. I personally don't feel having it harder than the Omega metroid would have made it better, I'm sure Hard mode is harder to beat her on.

the Queen is definitely too hard on normal difficulty. There is far too small space to avoid her attacks.

Nah, you only need to watch the pattern. I played it on hard mode, I was like "wtf is this shit, it's fucking impossible", but after some game overs I learned that it is pointless to just rush into her, you need to be patient and you'll see that there is enough space to avoid anything taking minimal damage. I played the original too, I never expected that the battle was longer, it was a nice surprise. I thought the Omega Metroids were harder to beat than the Queen... I never figure it out how to beat them faster, it tooked me a lot of time for each one of them.
