What a great guided tour of the Manxman, can't believe how good it looks when I am used to coming across on the Ben, I only live a few minutes from Heysham terminal so I will have to give it a trip over soon on the Manxman in my van and have a few days on the Island. 👍

Great video. Saw your other Manxman video of the ship arriving in Douglas, then we saw the Manxman doing trips out to sea when were in Douglas the week after it arrived for a few days (house hunting - took the "quick" option by flying from Liverpool) Should be heading back again shortly to check more houses, so WILL be doing the ferry next time so we can bring the car along too; need to see more of the IoM other than Douglas & the steam train ride to Port Erin

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall there was an RN warship during WWII called HMS Manxman? Specifically she was a 'fast minelayer' and was one of the fastest 'full size' warships in the world. She could steam at a maximum of 44 knots and was one of the few surface vessels to be able to get into and out of Malta. Quite a heritage inheritance.

That was a really nice and comprehensive tour. Very bright and spacious indeed. It’ll be interesting to see how she handles rough weather. Bit disappointed by the tiny open deck spaces. I presume the vast top deck is off limits to passengers?

I'm looking forward to traveling on her, looks really good. It's a shame the imspc have dropped any Manx Gaelic from the announcements. Hopefully they will bring this back even if it's a simple "welcome onboard or thank you for traveling with us"

They should use the old one to do a service from Liverpool old port (Not Birkenhead) to Dublin, possibly even starting from Salford Quays down the Manchester Ship Canal and down the Mersey, then across the Irish Sea

The TV in the cabin worked in the end, the crew came to enter a password! 😁 Apart from the live TV, there is a local network movie and TV series library which I have used, since the live TV signal was lost at some point of crossing.

“A ship is called a she because there is always a great deal of bustle around her; there is usually a gang of men about; she has a waist and stays; it takes a lot of paint to keep her good-looking; it is not the initial expense that breaks you, it is the upkeep; she can be all decked out; it takes an experienced man to handle her correctly; and without a man at the helm, she is absolutely uncontrollable. She shows her topsides, hides her bottom and, when coming into port, always heads for the buoys.”

She seemed very quiet on the video. Is that the case when onboard? Incidentally Manxman is built to Heysham-max dimensions and is the biggest vessel that the port us able to handle

Hilarious, I seem to remember the old Manxman being a 'knocking-shop' in the port of Preston(mainland) many years ago. Sorry, a kind of night club...you might say.

It was indeed a nightclub in Preston docks for a number of years before sailing off, then fell into disrepair, and I think scrapped. Good times had by all. As a group, we went regularly. For reasons I can't remember, we hid one of the lads clothes in one of the lifeboats! No idea why he'd taken his clothes off, but there you go!

Great video frank and a fantastic ship, really stunning, not shure what it will be like after a few thousand bikers trash it ?,.i agree with you about the power points being in the wrong place, and a bit of uniformity on the electric doors would be a better idea, like you said i can see "issues" with them after alot of use and abuse, as for lounges/cabins/food/drink i was pleasantly surprised,. prices were fairly reasonable on the whole,. (except for bottled water) but you accessed "free" drinking water ! Rough crossing anticipations hopefully will be lessened if the ship has stabilization fins ?,. you didn't say how much your ticket prices were ? Also whats prices for cars/vans/bikes/motorhomes ?,.But overall for a massive ship i think £80000000 well spent,. I will stick with mannanan sea cat as i sail from liverpool , its fast and reasonably comfy, and smooth to "on calm seas," i couldn't help but notice how quiet and smooth the manxman was, very impressive, good old out of sinc tvs made me laugh !,.

Nice looking ship, But how many of those lounges will/could be closed off during the winter when its sailing with around a 100 people onboard ? Think the packet would make more money by leasing it out during the winter to someone else, Like they did with the lady or monas queen years ago, Just my thoughts,

I came back from Douglas on the Manxman yesterday , really nice ship, straight on and away to Heysham. Heysham or should I say the people/staff at terminal at Heysham= An utter shambles. Does anyone who works their know what they are doing?? . On the ferry from Heysham to Douglas on Sunday before ,the staff turning up to start their shift were openly saying that no one had a clue and this from a security bloke ,English I might add, who had great fun telling us all how chaotic it was to work there. It was terrible . Whereas the return ferry from Douglas days later was seamless, . Please sort out the divots at Heysham who don’t have clue and have no interest in what they do.

She is the third Manxman owned by the IOMSPCo. The first was a turbine steamer, built in 1904 that saw service in both World Wars and was scrapped in 1949. Manxman II was the last of a class of six turbine steamers built after WWII. She served the Steam Packet from 1955 to 1982 when she was converted into a nightclub in Preston and then Hull. She was finally broken up at Sunderland in 2012.

No, it’s a temporary restriction while the Manxman crew gets used to the weather in the Irish Sea and practices manoeuvring in high winds. It’s in the news and part of the normal process.

And they're costing a lot more than the Manxman, for much smaller ships. So the question is, is it worth spending more to create jobs in the UK, or would you rather spend less money and get a cheap ship built in Korea?

I would like to know which is the best quiet place for People disabilities that don't like busyness on the New Ferry ? but wll say bad that no exclusive quiet area for people with disabilities but can't deal the busy ness on the ship alos gus tv have volume off again so people with disabilities have to get someone to read it to them to someone with disability a certain things it sounds like they didn't actually get people disabilities to test this all out before they finally finished it
