Funny story.. kind of.. when I lived in EH around 17 years ago, I was at karaoke night at the Blue Parrot. I came out of there pretty drunk and ended up passing out on a bench near Khan’s. I woke up to two officers standing over me. One was literally pissing on me! When they realized I had woken up, the pisser turned around quickly while the other cop started shinning a light in my face telling me to get up and go home. When I asked him why they had just pissed on me they told me that I had pissed myself and if I didn’t leave they would arrest me for sleeping on the bench. I ended up walking back to my house all the way on Fort Pond at 4am in my piss soaked jeans where I contemplated my life for a while. Thought you might find that interesting..

You know, some people have legitimate "things to hide". Your tone when you say that someone who doesn't want to be filmed must have something to hide is always negative, as though there's never a valid reason to not want to be filmed. The fact is, people have no choice but to go out into public. The courts have said there's no expectation of privacy in public places. The courts are wrong. We don't sacrifice our right to privacy just because we are forced to have to do business in public places - sometimes against our will. Yes, you do have every right to video anyone in public. But just because you can do something, doesn't mean you always should! You don't know who might need you to not film them for their safety. But then where do you draw the line of when and who to record and who not to. What if someone is in the witness protection program? They don't have a choice but to be in public from time to time. That, by itself, could be dangerous for them. But then to have their faces broadcast over the internet, with a time and location no less. It's not like they're in public voluntarily. But the courts have said what they have. But then, there are times when I think you could be more patient and understanding as well, remembering that most people don't understand that you're there for them, and that their first knee-jerk reaction is one of self-defense. Instead of getting defensives yourself right from the start, you could exercise a little more wisdom and be gracious with your respond since you understand why you're there, and they don't - yet. You know you'll have an opportunity to set the record straight. So cut them some slack for a bit until such a time as you can patiently and graciously teach them why it's in their best interest for you to be there. I have learned from you, and I apprecaite that. But I often think you're too ready to be on the defensive when you don't have to be. To be sure, there are times when you do need to be. Just not every time someone reacts aggressively at first. They don't know; you do. Just my two cents worth.
