What some of these people fail to understand is that the right to stand on a public sidewalk and film is critical to the operation of a democracy. You think about many of the revolutions all around the world where citizen cameramen went out and recorded what was happening in their countries and let the world know. Many massive injustices and scandals were exposed that way. Huge bombings and revolutions in different parts of the world are recorded with a simple camera on the street. Treating a person with a medical exemption who is not wearing a mask like they are terrorists is a little extreme, don't you think? I am in favor of masks. But I also understand freedom and I understand Jason's medical exemption (he discusses it in a separate video. It's 100% legit.) Bottom line is, she was wearing a mask, and masks do work, so how is her attitude justified? BUT...we all know the real reason she acted that way was because of the camera. Entitled people think they can control what everyone else does when they are near them and the whole point of these audits is to show these types of people that that is not the case.

I am a former high school government teacher and the collective ignorance in this country makes me want to scream! I am frustrated that so many who would be considered my colleagues did not equip their students with fundamental knowledge of their rights and responsibilities as a citizen. By today's standards, my style of teaching would be controversial. I taught my students that fundamental rights need to be protected and that it was their responsibility to know their rights and to question authority instead of blindly following others.

I was answering the posted question, about how many people ask police why they are recording. The answer is pretty obvious. As to your assertion that recording by individuals is normal, that depends. Conspicuously recording private buildings, ordinary people doing their work public and private, people simply waiting in line inside of public lobbies, etc, that is not normal behavior, and it is sure to raise a level of concern among many people. To pretend that this is not so is simply willful ignorance. And to be clear, I understand that we are being recorded all the time by both the government and private institutions. I'm not saying that it's wrong to assert one's First Amendment rights to record. We are at a juncture of saturation of recording devices, rights to record, social morality that says it's rude to record people, and ability to profit off shock videos, which creates a perfect storm for First Amendment auditors to harass people in the name of their first amendment rights. The law has not totally caught up with this new phenomena, and it'll be interesting to see how the legislature responds over the next 10 years.
