We used to race at my buddies racetrack about 20 years ago! Lol Some of the tricks we learned the hard way: we used finger nail polish for the screws that went into plastic parts and for lock tight screws and nuts. It keeps them from backing out from vibration. Then we siliconed our carbs,carb to engine,nipples and all,and theard taped the air fuel mix screws,no more leaning out from air leaks.We hosed clamped our exhaust silicone together.no more exhaust pipe coming apart. And the best one ,was the balloons that people use to make little animals out of,we used for shock boots. They worked great for keeping the shock shafts from getting all scratched,and bad sticky shocks. Hope someone can use some of these ideas,and have longer problem free runs like we did.

I wanted to like this video two times👍 I’ve ran nitro for only a year and it is amazing but a lot to learn, the be happy with what your doing advice is perfect for the nitro racer. Last race, B main, flamed on the first turn. Raced up to second for the bump, battled for 14 minutes of a 15 minute main for the bump flamed again one lap to go, finished 4 seconds off the bump, best, funnest race ever. Missed the main 🤦🏼♂️

Sounds like you were really close to bumping up. It's tough to work your way up and put in that work, then have the engine die on you. Nitro really tests your patience sometimes. -Brett

@evhexrc17655 жыл бұрын
Wow, my suggestions for each video have been the next! One of them was upgrading the engine. Great job at the track Brett! If you switch ALL of the Phillips head screws and mating hardware to lightweight titanium and aluminum fine threaded hex head screws/hardware, that’ll drop the weight a bit and reduce the likelihood of screws backing out. If a particular screw keeps baking out after that, even with blue locktite, you can mix the blue with red. I suggest a 75:25 blue to red mix.

"I don't think we can make 7 minutes"... Heavy blue smoke pouring out every straight, lol.
@AMain_Hobbies5 жыл бұрын
Haha. But anyone who buys this RTR, or anything similar, should not lean the engine to the max. You need some smoke coming out of the pipe. For the new nitro racer, it's usually a "set it and forget." And to be fair, we tuned the engine in 100°F weather, and on race day it was considerably cooler, and we had no pit guy or time to mess with the engine. We're not pro racers or pro tuners, and Gord Tessmann missed his flight. -Brett

Wicked cool video series. I really enjoy the sound of nitro and just overall the technology. I am personally an eRacer! This is an great thing to do.....take them RTRs and ready to race them. I just know when I was new to the Racing of RCs, it's the price tag and what actually is needed for the track. I really enjoy building RTRs for the track. I am currently bringing an ECX Revenge back and turning an RTR laps on the track this year. I provide the build online ecxforum for fellow ECX lovers. Again, I totally enjoyed this vid series, and keep pushing these RTRs, this is what will expand the hobby.

You want an plastic steering servo horn. That's the fusible link, otherwise you risk damaging the servo. Horns are cheap to to replace and faster than swapping a servo. In normal use (not crashing) the plastic horn will never fail unless previously damaged.

I just thought about something - nitro's actually become cheaper for club racing than electric power. Top-end brushless setups actually cost more than decent nitro setups at this point and there's really no difference in the cost of the chassis at this point (in some cases the entry level is cheaper for nitro), and the difference in performance between a low-end and high-end setup due to timing boost and other features on expensive high-end ESCs is a much larger factor than the difference between a low-end and high-end nitro engine. Seems like a good time to revive 1/10th scale nitro truck.

thats what i have noticed trying to get into racing. i think im going to order this. i love nitro anyways.
@vivos712 жыл бұрын
I noticed this when my brother wanted to get into racing. Not only is it around $150 cheaper to get a nitro buggy, it's also about the same price as what you need to do to a 17.5 1/10 buggy to run competitively. A Kyosho MP9 readyset is not as much slower than an MP10 kit than a Team Associated RTR buggy is from a RC10B6.3, not to mention 1/8 nitro gives you a lot more track time.

The 8ight 2.0 RTR was still 1 of the best RCs i've had in my ~100. Fact that u didnt have to do much of anything to be competitive with it was awesome. Direct qualifier into Amain of a big regional warmup race (Had an Emain) out of the box just about (maybe some LH thread shock bolts and a stronger replacement steering servo) even on stock step pin tires was 1 of my best days. Also finished a 30min club Amain on 3 shocks when left front shaft broke 2min in. Finished on the box no less kids cheering constantly 'go broken car!' It can be done folks. Shame RC is in a horrid state. Just read that another track and shop closed this wkend. Didnt even know our state had more than 1 left. -U10

Also, not putting no shame on you Brett, you did awsome, I would like to see some of Kyoshos drivers showing up with one of these cars (setup to their liking of course) to some of the minor events.
@VestedUTuber4 жыл бұрын
Some tracks (ones with enough buggies) split their 1/8th scale nitro buggy class into two - sportsman and open. Sportsman generally puts a price limit on your engine. ...unfortunately, though, that results in the class being dominated by SH Engines (previously Dynamite Platinum) equipped cars since those things are probably the biggest bang for your buck you can get in a .21, and you still end up with RTRs going up against top-end racing kits and rollers. My 8ight 2.0 is sportsman legal, but it can hang with the top end E-buggies. Of course, driving skill matters a lot as well.
