That carb looks in nice condition once you cleaned it up. When I first got my T140V (which was 15 years old at the time, with only 1300 miles on the clock), it hadn't been used for years and would not run properly. When I stripped the carbs, I could see, by holding the main jets up to the light, that they were partially blocked by deposits. When I could not dissolve these, I probed them carefully with a piece of MIG wire and that cleaned them out. Not the recommended method, but it's been running fine on them for 28 years since. When you are checking the pilot jet, you can't tell if it's clear by blowing air through the drillings, because there are too many openings for it to come out. What I do is probe the jet (with the air screw removed of course) with a piece of old throttle cable with a single strand sticking out about 1/2" at the end, then blow it through.

Easy check for the seating of the needle and float working correctly: Hold the carburettor upright and blow, with your mouth, down the fuel feed hole. It should blow through easily. Turn the carburettor upside down, and it will be blocked. Takes 10 seconds. ☺

Great tip Dave and as you say, very quick and easy.

I think I've got the Amal eccentric carb. 🥴 It's got me pulling my hair out and I don't have any to spare. Anyway, thanks for the video, maybe it will help.

Eccentric is a great description. I am still having carb problems with the Firebird, moved on to an ultrasonic cleaner. Like you I don't have enough hair to pull out although it is tempting!

Is there a manual choke option for concentric carbs?

Yep, my BSA A65 has separate choke slides.

@@oldnutsgarage instead of a cable? Thank you for replying

Sorry I misunderstood the question, I do not know of any manual levers to replace the cable operation ( MK2s had them though ) but it might be worth emailing Amal they might have a solution.
