Sir in "payment of expenses to the old company entry" we're doing goodwill DR to cash/bank. But if the company has a CAPITAL RESERVE on effective date entry shouldn't we first set off the capital reserve and then charge GOODWILL in the above entry?

Because we can't debit goodwill there so we use general reserve to pay such liquidation expenses
