I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who was completely blown away by Amanda at the inauguration. Her words were so powerful but the way she spoke them moved me to tears. And then I discovered she has a speech impediment. My daughter was in speech therapy for much of her childhood for r's and w's and I saw first hand the work required to overcome that. And then I watched this interview and heard the conviction of her beliefs and how she uses poetry to share them with the world. Just amazing. I'm looking forward to #CamandaInChief2036!

Great poem, great message at the Inauguration just now, and a great delivery. Wow. You really encapsulated what the world, as well as America, needed to hear. I hope all of America, and more and more of the world, will not only hear, but actually heed your words. We need to work together as a world to create equality, opportunity and justice for all, and sensible economic and political systems that embody those values rather than ones that protect the privilege of special interest groups and corporations. Politics needs to become based on empathy, intelligence, research and facts rather than partisan ideology, and power needs to be exercised in the interests of all, not just for a party, not just for a nation even, but for all life on Earth, now and always. If not now, when? Good one, Amanda. You were, and are, amazing. Here's to hope! :)

I think the way she handled it by continuing to ask the man what he meant actually did teach that particular man something. He did realize what he said was wrong. This should be taught to all young children. She asked her questions respectfully, but she stood up for herself and didn't let the adult use his authority to bully her. It would all be in the tone of voice, firm, but not belligerent so you could be accused of disrespect.

As a mother of two little boys; one with BOTH Apraxia of Speech AND a “Gifted IQ,” you are truly a wonderful role model! Hearing you speak is a powerful example how hard work and perseverance does pay off! My six year old goes to 24 therapies a week and has done for much of his life. He is innately intelligent in ways that impress me daily, yet so often is mistreated, bullied and labeled by adults and children alike, as if to insinuate his potential is already capped! Nonsense, he is only just now 6! It still shocks me to witness how society has treated him since he was a mere toddler, and how a mouth that is still *fine tuning* appears to be more valuable than his brain or personality. It’s disheartening that so many in society feel comfortable maligning a small child and labeling them for one reason or another to be predestined for failure. Your effort to persevere is not lost on me for many reasons, but to see such obstacles overcome in perpetuity, with such a charming personality, and one that is equally willing to tame those who prejudge you is empowering. It is a testament to you, those who encouraged you, and to the weakening of those who did not. Never underestimate the power that each individual can make on society. As is said...Those who say it cannot be done, should not interrupt the person doing it!! 😉 “COMANDA IN CHIEF”, you have my vote in 2036!! ♥️👏🇺🇸
