This episode really got to me.. The part where Amanda talks about what the midwife said about her son not wanting to leave her, destroyed me... All the love to you Amanda (and any other parent who had to go through something similar...)

Amanda speaks of Theo so beautifully, and it sounds like Lexi and Hollie are wonderful little girls. The part about 'not my brother Theo mummy' made me laugh so much! Gorgeous. xx

I'm not even a mammy yet but I'm hooked on these podcasts!! You don't hear these stories from other mums in real life but these things are a reality. One day I'd like to be a mum but I also want to go into it with my eyes wide open, otherwise I could never be prepared for what might happen. Thank you for this podcast. ❤ xx

Sobbed and laughed my way through this podcast in equal measure. Amanda is amazing. Its good to hear about the reality. 3 people i know have had to go through giving birth to their angels and so many more have miscarried yet we dont mention it ever. We need to talk more openly as it is so common yet unheard about.xxx

I don’t have any children but I know that I do want them in the future. I am so great full for Amanda for sharing her story. You never know (heaven forbid) if this will happen to yourself or someone close to you. So in some ways it’s good to hear this story and know that you can get through this traumatic, heartbreaking, unexplainable and pretty sh*t life altering situation. Well done Amanda for sharing this. And well done to Gi as well for giving her this platform to share this story along with many others you’ve had on. Xx

having my first kid in 3 weeks time and listening to (also reading) happy mum happy baby has totally changed my mind on being a mom and going trough labor, my body, to know that I have the right to decide what I want for my baby and not being afraid of speaking out thinking that only the doctors know what's best. Thanks Gi

Just been listening to this on Spotify. What a rollercoaster. As someone who has a 10 month old and knows I want to try for a second in a year or two, it makes me terrified to try, but then heading her talk about Holly fills me with the love I have for my daughter and the realisation that we can't be scared to try. Children are wonderful and Mummies and Daddies are so strong. It's so important that it is known and people are able to talk about it and get the support they need. So important to never forget those sleeping angels, don't let fear stop people from remembering or talking.

I had my baby at 27 weeks and although he survived, it was very hard being in the hospital bed recovering without a baby. They bought another woman into recovery and were talking to her about breastfeeding and I actually asked to leave the room and got moved straight into a private room. It is absolutely necessary for a woman without their baby to be in a private room away from it. Hearing the babies breaks your heart!

Thankfully, I’ve never gone through baby loss, my heart goes out to any incredible women who have gone through that. Also - my mum told me that after I was born my dad took my outside while my mum got some rest. I was crying and a midwife came into the corridor and said I’m sorry but can you take her further down the corridor/into another room because their was a mother in another room who’s baby had died. Heartbreaking, ever since she told me I’ve often thought about that baby and the mother

Before coming to my actually comment I want to say that I love these podcast and the fact that they don't shy away from difficult topics like this one. Also it is awful and unimaginable the pain that one goes through when this happens and I feel for everyone who had to go through this. That being said, I find it a pity, that obstetricians are so often put down like that! We are here to try to help women/couples through a hardship like this. And while we usually don't get as close to the people as midwives do, we still very much feel for them! I'm not a native English speaker but I'm sure "empty-handed" wasn't meant like it was taken....and I'm also pretty sure that there were also reassuring words preceding or following that term, but they just got lost/forgotten in the context because of that one word... Sadly it's a pretty common thing that if a doctor says something that patients don't want to hear or take the wrong way they get put down. But if they do, say and handle everything how you expect them to, there's rarely any words of acknowledgement... Also, there are reasons why sometimes we advise on certain things (that maybe patients don't want to hear)! And while 18 months is longer than what I know we would recommend, it definitely makes sense to wait a while (we usually recommend 9 to 12 months) after a c-section and even more so after a second one! It has nothing to do with the baby being still born but everything about the operation itself and the risk that come with such a short time in between. What Ms Holden went through is one part (and should already be enough to make someone consider a longer waiting period) but also there's the risk of the uterus rupturing before the (planned) birth date and if that happens there is usually very little chance for the baby surviving. Wouldn't you want to be on the safe side, especially after going through such a horrible event?!
