@juliewayiero apres moi na deluge is french for after me comes the flood. and in regina's original the russian portion is the first stanza to a poem by boris pasternak. which translates to: Black spring! Pick up your pen, and weeping, Of February, in sobs and ink, Write poems, while the slush in thunder Is burning in the black of spring.

I personally loved the German coming from her.

Amanda Palmer and Regina Spektor are actually really good friends. I bet she wouldn't appreciate you calling her friend "like listening to a heifer"
@Brynwyn1237 жыл бұрын
Guys? She wrote in a German bit because she speaks German and not Russian. You'd complain about bad pronunciation if she did the Russian
@kitz70315 жыл бұрын
The german part is pretty difficult to understand and sometimes confusing, but she sings: What do you do Regina? The aged don't understand us What do you do Regina? The mistaken are still right What do you mean Regina? The coldness has valued us What do you do Regina? The Ice Age comes, the flood burst
@mbunter14 жыл бұрын
@littledevillaura I heard it a bit differently, honestly, I heard: What do you do, Regina? The old ones, they don't understand us. What, what do you do, Regina? The false one has judged us. (I heard "Die Falsche hat uns eingeschätzt") What do you do, Regina? The cold one has introduced us. (again, I heard "Die Kalte hat uns eingebracht") What, what do you do, Regina? The Ice Age comes, the flood shattered. (zerbrechen really could be either one, but to me "shatter" sounds better).

@juliewayiero she changed regina's russian part to her own german lyrics. deluge is french for flood ...apres moi le deluge. it means, after me, the flood.

amanda and regina. what more could a girl ask for?! =D

I must say that Amanda's cover is really individual X) Regina's better of course, but I like this version, too.
@P4ddl3515 жыл бұрын
I actually liked this version a lot. Her struggle with the vocal range adds a weird sort of passion to the song. Not everyone is the vocal virtuoso that Regina Spektor is. But yeah, the original is better.

@XXXBootstrap listen closely, this isn't what regina originally sings. Amanda Palmer really sings those german lyrics here

@WeLuVnLt4894 well shes not regina and cant speak russian...so instead of butchering the russian language she sang in german.

lol *halfway through song* fuck i fucked that up! love this woman
@andrewshaver154012 жыл бұрын
In French "Apres moi le deluge" literally means "After me the flood". If you are going to say "After me comes the flood" you would have to say "Apres moi vient le deluge". And Amanda is saying it with an extra vowel which is odd but fine.

She dropped the Russian part and sang something in German instead. The translation of it is just above you, nicely provided by the user littledevillaura:)

some serious over-pronunciation of the é in déluge... and no-one can play piano like Regina. but apart from that... not too bad!! Quite a good cover infact, imo. :)

Yes German...
@tehfreckled1der14 жыл бұрын
@cashmoney21892 i know she doesn't speak russian, but she could have at least attempted a german translation of the russian passage, which was an homage to boris pasternak. it was the first stanza to one of his poems.

ITS RUSSIAN NOT GERMAN! Jesus, Regina Spektor is RUSSIAN! >: |

Not a big fan of the German. Palmer is no Pasternak.
@EffinPiss15 жыл бұрын
You're not supposed to be nice with the reply. ;/ I wasn't actually being serious. It was me being bored, and thinking to myself: "Hey, you know how everyone on the internet is super serious? LETS DO SOMETHING FUN LOOOL" So, you passed by failing.

This is awful.
@ryko2615 жыл бұрын
What exactly would be the point of doing a cover of this? SO VERY MUCH LESS IMPRESSIVE than the original! Like listening to a heifer, absolute butchering this song. 1 star!
