Recently, comedian Amanda Seales sat down for an interview with Shannon Sharpe on his podcast Club Shay Shay. The actor and comedian shared her recent autism diagnosis for the first time, her lengthy career in Hollywood, and her life-journey as it relates to race. The conversation got intense on multiple occasions during the lengthy sit-down where Seales expressed what she called "racist experiences" throughout her life, raising questions about Sharpe's ability to handle more sensitive topics.

FAQ:
Who are you and what is your name?
My name is My View My Opinion (MVMO) & I am a Podcaster, on KZbin. Due to safety concerns on the internet, I do not share my personal information anymore and I ask that others respect this. Also, I'm against the cult of personality & the promotion of self. I have no desire to "make a name" for myself. That's odd in this day & time I know, because most strive for this. Too many folks make themselves the center of attention instead of helping others first & allowing the information they share to be the focus of folks attention. Many crave applause, acceptance, & "fans & followers". I believe in letting the information take center stage.
Why don't you show your face?
My KZbin channel is host to my podcast. However, I do make on camera appearances from time to time & have many times in the past- as this is how my channel started, with me on camera talking about whatever. And for those who always ask, yes, I am a black woman, LOL!!!!

She actually said in the interview when she went back to grenada, her other family members were asking the mother "why do you allow her to behave so?" they were basically complaining that even as a little girl, she is rude and disrespectful. And you know what her mother said? " That's jus Amanda" ....... your take is spot on and I appreciate it.

Finally!!! Someone said it. I don’t get how all of these podcasters and commentators come to the conclusion that she’s a genius. Everything she has studied and gotten degrees in is easy for almost anyone to understand and comprehend. If you can’t read the room or learn from your mistakes, you’re not very smart. It’s not because of mental illness or something beyond her control, she just outright refuses to do so. Everything wrong in her life and everything she complains about is all self inflicted, she has burned every bridge she has come across and she refuses to even think about any of her faults but can’t wait to point out everyone else’s. She a 42 year old child and you’re right, if she ever figures this out and accepts this, it will be too late and she’ll have no one to blame but herself.

You have no idea how relieved I am to see this commentary. The number of people not seeing her dishonesty had me thinking i was nuts. Amanda is always the victim, never wants to compromise, and has rules for thee and not me. She is an intelligent but extremely insecure and self-absorbed person. I get the feeling that she keeps speaking on the Issa Rae situation to bully/punish those involved for not giving her what she wants by getting the public 'on her side'.

The first thing I thought was Hometraining101 when Shannon tried to explain to her why correcting the teacher (her elder) in front of the class was wrong. In another story, she talked about her mother telling another complaining adult, that rather than correcting Amanda's mouth, she's just precocious. What's sad is people are identifying with her self-diagnosis and thinking this is justified. Autism is not an excuse to never take accountability for how you co-create a situation and from many of the comments on various platforms, this idea is that it's not you but they are the problem because they don't understand the way your brain perceives things that may not be necessarily true. She feels attacked when she's not being attacked and so every encounter ends badly. There were no warm fuzzy stories, even the story about Kevin Hart had a sense of entitlement element, "Like why ain't everybody else like this" I was actually defending Amanda until I watched Shannon make himself as small as he could to make her feel safe only to be vilified in the aftermath

I totally agree with MVMO. Amanda is an example of what I hear these parents say “I let my child express themselves” hogwash! I have no issue with a child or adult “expressing” themselves. However, there’s a big difference between being vocal and being spoiled. She was and still is disrespectful/spoiled that’s why she can’t take accountability because no one showed her and told her how. It was her and her mother growing up, SHE was the bread winner and I’m quite sure her mom wasn’t use to fame and fortune (because as a black family back in the day, it was rare especially for the child to be economically in charge). The mom deemed her as “special” because she was a child star, she was “mature” and highly book smart for her age. The mother considered her “grown” because she didn’t require the typical child maintenance so she related to her on an adult level. Now that she’s officially grown, it ain’t cute and nobody likes it hence why she claims she doesn’t understand why people don’t like her. Girl, go ova there somewhere, you know why and she said it herself on the video from her radio show. She said she watched the interview and she can see why people don’t like her but she’s not interested in making those changes. and there you have it.

... but she preferred to lie and tell the interviewer that she was diagnosed, when she knew full well that she didn't have a formal diagnosis, and to then say on her IG that she didn't have ten thousand dollars, but didn't want to admit that to "than man that I didn't have a formal diagnosis" was disingenuous . I can't say I've watched any movie or shows that she was on, but I was always impressed, both with her beauty and her intellect. Even during the interview, I also questioned Shannon's questioning her experience of racism, since it was her experience, but when it came to her self-diagnosis which she implied was a formal diagnosis, she lost me and I clearly saw on display, the reason why she is not liked by her colleagues, because she immediately try to do damage control on her IG account and proceeded to through Shannon under the bus.

Yes! Similar thoughts came to mind for me. If her mother knowingly put her in a school where serious challenges could arise, special preparation was needed. For example, “Amanda, if you encounter XYZ, come to me, your parent, the adult, and I will direct you from there or handle it as the adult”. Why wait to address it and play games if her daughter had already shared issues with her??? Same behavior Amanda seems to exhibit. If I have an issue with you, etc, and you don’t “protect me” or agree with me 100%, then I will keep my intentions and true feelings hidden, turn on you and rewrite some or all of the narrative. I also believe that she is well read… and also very manipulative. It doesn’t make sense- you’ve spent most of your life in therapy, so much money looking for answers…and you don’t want to invest in an official test for Autism??? She spoke to Shannon about being a scholar on race but chose not to value official testing while also becoming extremely defensive to those who don’t agree with her mislabeling.

Good assessment. It deal with the post action on how to carry oneself, knowing your audience and how to address your audience. However, it doesn't address the root cause. Amanda points out the injustices she sees, and it has not been called out as to where Amanda gets her hypersensitivity from. Amanda eluded to her mother's participation in this indirectly. It leads me to summize that the parents passed off their traumas on Amanda and the result is Amanda taking every encounter she comes across, even if the encounter is not hers. Some would call that being an allie, but others would say she is up in everyone's business.

I hate that she didn’t give an accurate description of Autism. I am not a clinical psychologist but I believe she picked Autism because it’s a “safe” disability. I would’ve had more respect for her if she invested the money in getting a proper evaluation and diagnosis. Her entire interview was so cringeworthy. You hit the nail on the head she’s behaving like a big old brat!! I hope Shannon Sharpe brings an autism expert on his show to give viewers a correct definition and explanation of autism.

Not only that, but it’s actually accepted in the autism community to self-diagnose, despite professionals advising against it, and based on how people with autism or autistic friends and family members have reacted to Amanda saying she self-diagnosed, a lot of them have given her a pass. I can’t with the people co-signing her.

I thought she picked autism, because a lot of geniuses have been diagnosed as autistics or were speculated to be autistics. People such as Steven Spielberg, Howard Hughes, Nikola Tesla, Elon Musk, Albert Einstein and others.

I think that Amanda is upset that she hadnt met her full potential. However, its not her fault.

I don’t know what Amanda has or doesn’t have but whatever it is she’s not trying to fix it. That’s very problematic!

Amanda's comments seemed very narcissistic! She actually mentioned more than once, that she was a genius and very intelligent. When you are smart and intelligent, you don't need to remind people. I would suggest she take a some time away, and figure out she should move forward with people. She seems to think there is someone always attacking her, not liking her. Lastly, her delivery when explaining her points is awful! She needs to work on her delivery. I am put off by her presentation .

🙏🏼 THANK YOU for for making this video. I could not agree with you more. While Amanda is indeed smart and creative, she’s lacking in other equally crucial skills that take you further in life. When she speaks I don’t hear humility or a sense of accountability at all, or a sense of appropriateness. When she was called in for disrupting class, her mother should have said “it’s okay to have strong opinions and sometimes teachers do make mistakes, but there is a time and place to offer a correction.”
