I know this is talking about Dr. King but the conversation (specifically Loni’s question about change) reminds me of a quote by Malcolm X _”If you stick a knife in my back nine inches and pull it out six inches, there's no progress. If you pull it all the way out that's not progress. Progress is healing the wound that the blow made. They haven’t even pulled the knife out, much less heal the wound. THEY WON’T EVEN ADMIT THE KNIFE IS THERE.”_ *THAT* is why there is no change. White people refuse to acknowledge and address their ancestor’s history and the benefits they reap from it. Because, as Amanda said, “certain people will no longer be at the top... once you create equality supremacy does not exist.” Whether it’s overt or covert THAT is why white people will NEVER truly be allies. They know how black people are treated and they do not want it for themselves.

@nicolelewis6312

I understand what she's trying to say but it doesn't seem to reflect practicality. If you are of a minority group but live in a country with a majority group, the majority group will have dominance over the minority group. This is why it is so disheartening to see the effects of colonization on many African countries.
@angelacobb4234

@@nicolelewis6312 She was stating that if everyone was on the same playing field...had the same opportunities, you would not be supreme..If blacks had the same opportunities as it's counterparts they would be extraordinary...all they go through on a daily basis.....what we went through for over 400 yrs and still have it in our make up to thrive and keep going....we would dominate...we are conquerers!

Facts. I was team Malcolm X and the Black Panther Party since childhood because their ideologies made sense to me. Self-defense/preservation and segregation was a blessing, not a curse. I felt like MLK was encouraging black people to walk into a lions cage unarmed with the expectation of a positive outcome. Unfortunately MLK didn't always keep the same energy so white people only focused on his weaker, more subservient talking points.

Nappy Scribe In numbers we are majority but in power we are the minority. Education is power . We have to help our youth acquire the education they need to have the ability to be in key positions wield they power to set laws etc to help there people. When a large amount of our youth get there degrees and have key positions than the scale can be tipped to our favor . Until than numbers really do not count . Look at the Jewish Americans as an example . They work hard , support strongly there community and fellow Jewish owned businesses and when they raise there children they focus on education . They learn how to play Violin or piano and dance as well as math & science , law ,Medicine & journalism . They study and are taught discipline and when they are young work in professional offices to gain corporate skills & contacts. When they are very very young they teach them about money and banking & interest rates etc . They teach there children there religion and culture and to keep there fate strong . They have the formula and it has helped them achieve great success all over the world .

College prepares black people to be useless to their own people. Colin Powell has a college education, he drops bombs on Black countries. Clarence Thomas has a college education. The thing is how do you get an education that can be used withOUT creating comfort and wealth for the hoozier. We need our own business bought with our own resources. We are brainwashed from preschool to however far you want to go in THEIR schools! Not just in education. Religion too. I really wish Adrienne knew how to articulate herself better because she does have the balls to talk bout race and discrimination unlike the other ladies, but when she does she sounds inferior to people like Jeannie, Tamera and Amanda because she sounds like a 15 year old talking. She's always saying "what's the word" or referencing a movie as her research instead of real articles and studies.

I completely agree with you. As a Black Man listening, that’s how I perceived it. There’s a saying in the Caribbean community “When a person speaks, eat the meat and spit out the bones.” Basically, take what you need from it to understand when a person speaks every time. I didn’t take away she was saying Help like a Hand-Out.
